Ok Alex, please prove us wrong, I am looking forward to eating a large piece of humble pie next May when we have won a cup and finished in the top 4!

Dons positive hat. He's good defensively so will hopefully sort our shower out. He's crap at finding strikers, but fortunately we've already got a damn good one. It might just work.

Although I think it's an awful decision, I hope that somehow he does well.
Nothing would please me more than to be proved wrong.

I also owe an apology to Villadawg for all the times I doubted his assertion that the boards ambition was waning.

Welcome Alex! Good luck, and ignore the vocal minority.  Once we start seeing good football and good results they'll go quiet.

Like many others on here I’m still stunned by this decision. I have nothing personal against McLeish, but clearly the board were being advised by a panel of the great consisting of The Smurfs, The Teletubbies and Mr Blobby in making this decision.
Nonetheless I have to admire the obvious Buster Gonad size of your testicles Mr McLeish for taking us on and wish you all the success in doing so.
First things first, no-one leaves this club in the immediate future and please stick one of your giant plus 4’s up the collective arses of Messrs Dunne and Collins and get them to defend again.
Oh yeah and if you get Stephen Ireland playing to his ability and not acting like a raving lunatic, you could even win over the idiots at the back of the Holte End.

Although I'm not happy with the appointment, I'm an Aston Villa fan and I will support whoever we have at the helm.

Good luck, Alex, you'll probably need it to win over the haters. As said, as soon as you start getting the results in there then I'm sure they'll shut up and start eating their own words.

I'm just gutted I've gotta look at his fugly mug everytime I access the OS. I know GH was no looker, but McLeish is 'SUMMINK ELSE'!

This is just weird. I find myself staring at the screen in disbelief.

In a weird way I admire his courage, he must know he's walking into a bear pit.

We've appointed Alex McLeish, not Dr Oliver Sacks.

Welcome Alex.  While some of us (including me) are not exactly overwhelmed now if you bring us the FA Cup I'm sure we'll all love you forever.  If I were you I'd be signing some players pretty damn quickly - and some bloody good ones at that...

Hopefully we'll not be looking for another manager for a VERY long time....
