Can you imagine the press conference. It will be interesting to hear him answer why he chose to come when he knows a huge majority of supporters are hostile to him. I hope the CEO is questioned as to how many others were interviewed as there was plenty of time, and who's decision was it. Dave W are you accredited to be there?

The scary thing is i'd probably be happier with half of the Blose candidates for a manager.  hell i'd take simon Grayson currently

No-one was shuddering at the thought of Martinez, it was split about 50/50.

I did tell people at the time they shouldn't turn their noses up at Martinez because I can think of far more worse managers.

We should of just tapped up Martinez, he would of come. But ironicially we did the 'right' way, he declined then we alledgely tap up McLeish.

It's a disgrace.

Eh? He stayed at Wigan because of loyalty. He was hardly going to change his mind depending on our approach.

He's got to have a good press conference, he needs to say the right thing, especially as a former small heath manager he'll need to realise he owes them nothing anymore and forget he used to be empoyed by them.

Just say something like:

"I'm delighted to be manager of a big club like Villa. I've got some real quality and talented players to work with in which I hope can make us progress further as a team with the full backing of the board"

That might give some of the fans some hope and it'll also wind up the heathens.

you reckon? he never got the chance to talk to us, so there's no decision to make really. You don't take a job before you've met who you're working for.

"Someone may have to explain this to me, how does spending £20m buying 60% of a relegated defence, that conceded 1 less goal than our current one, represent progress?"

As has been well documented, it was Scott Dann's long term injury that significantly weakened Blues defence, and potentially lead to their relegation. Hence he was linked with Liverpool and Arsenal and Blues conceded more goals during his absence. Just a thought

There's no point. It'll be on SSN and reported extensively, everywhere

I have the feeling that he knew AM had got the job and was only being used as dressing.

Do you think the press conference will more likely be next week?

so they lose one player and their defence falls apart? well thats reassuring as far as Mcliesh's ideas on squad stength goes

My guess is they have spoken to Alex Ferguson about potential new managers.

My guess is they have spoken to Alex Ferguson about potential new managers.

And naively thought that Ferguson's concerns went beyond bigging up his former skipper and making six points for them even more likely.

I wonder if he went to the boss of American Express for advice when he was running MBNA?
