What would you think if we appointed Hughes but he insisted in his contract he had a clause to talk any of the Top 4 clubs if they kept calling or an insistence in his contract that he had a minimum amount of money per year to spend on players and if they broke that he could walk out of the contract and sue them for compensation . Maybe that happened with a previous Manager mmmmmmmmmmm

I am totally summising but to dismiss Hughes from the reckoning leads me to think these things

This is the most interesting post for a long time. So this is why MON walked, he did not want to level out wages and insisted on still having x amount to spend in the window! I can understand why RL don't want to repeat that!

What a how d'you do. By now, I just hope whoever gets the job can stay in it, because the thought of another managerial mardi gras like this one gives me a stint of the screaming abdabs.

Maybe part of the reason it's being drawn out, and in fairness it's still only 9 days since Gezza officially left, is that they're trying to put a team in place that would allow us to promote from within in future, thereby giving the club some stability and creating our own version of Liverpool's old 'boot room'?

Imagine this:-
Houllier as DOF
Martinez as manager
K-Mac and Sid as coaches/assistants
Laursen mixed in that somewhere learning the ropes

The emplasis is on youth development and scouting, plus uncle Randy dropping the odd Bent type signing in.  This means that should the manager go, we can continue with the established framework by promoting from within, or if nobody is suitable get an outside manager who can then fit into what we've got without the need to start from scratch again.

Maybe this is why the Rafa thing wasn't pursued as he wanted to bring all his own men in??
I would happily live with that set-up. I also think having Laursen around the training ground while he's getting his coaching badges would have a real positive effect on our defence from day one

Given an unspecified previous manager's propensity to sue people at the drop of a hat, I think you need to tread very carefully there.

I almost don't want it ever to be 1.30pm. If it's RM, I know that despite my best efforts not to be, i'm going to be disappointed.

I am not saying it's right at all just trying to think why Hughes is not being considered just seems to me odd that he is being discounted as for other Manager who knows think it will never be revealed officially because it will be tied up in the agreement .

He's a club ambassador.

I'd imagine the only people who really knw are the board members.

Appointing RM is bad enough, but hiim being our number one target beggars belief.

He is a paid ambassador so you would have to think that he would be saying it in some  official capacity .

Wheelan just been on SSN saying he is just about to meet Martinez to give him a new contract. If he accepts our search goes on - if not it looks like we have our man.

He says he hopes for a decision well before 1pm

That's it then. It's just down to whether RM says yes or no.What a fucking depressing day to be a Villa fan
