Ya. If he was appointed Blues manager we would have a field day.

if its brolly boy, i will cry...

Genuinely, I think I would too. I can honestly say, of all the names on the 'shortlist' doing the rounds, McClaren's is the only one I'm totally opposed to.

Oliver Kay in the National media putting us down now (Times)

He says that it would be hard to undestand why Hughes would swap Fulham for Villa and that our ambition wouldn't match his.

When did we turn into Bolton?

The £24 million pound (which should have been given to MON to spend on Aiden McGeady and Robbie Keane) signing of Darren Bent, which was a ridiculous sum, wasn't a proper signing, you see, because it was a panic buy, and not indicative of ambition.

Moyes most likely felt he couldn't leave Everton in the lurch last time around as the season was already upon them and you have to respect that. Its not the case now and I can't believe he wouldn't be extremely tempted by Villa if we approach him. I dont buy this Villa same as Everton bollocks. We're in much better shape than they are in every way. He'd have significantly more resources to use and would feel he could take us further than he ever did with Everton.
I really cant see a bigger opportunity coming for him and I reckon he'd agree. All he has to look forward to there is more getting by with the same old squad minus whichever assets they've been forced to sell. He's been there long enough. Too long. If he has ambitions to do something in the game he needs to get out of there now.

I'd still prefer the likes of Ancellotti, van Gaal, Rijkaard or van Basten though.

i think randy still wont poach a manager. our new man will 99% certain be out of work. that leaves...

dave jones
brolly man
fsw
king carlo
jol
mon

all have the required prem xp plus are actively seeking employment. i' say mon has 0% chance same as jones, carlo is number 1 but he may not fancy us second choice will be fsw, dont know why just under that impression, jol and steve are a distant 3rd imo.

Totally agree Merv. I'm cringing at the prospect but also have faith that Randy is with us on this one. I hope!

Any reasonable football fan would realise that is a lot of crap. All Oliver Kay is successfully doing is losing credibility

Did he ever have any?

Couldn't agree more Maz. Love your list of preferences. All of those guys are exciting prospects.

A big name from left field still could come into it - someone like Van Gaal maybe - Faulkner said in an interview with some unofficial magazine somewhere that may be the programme or not that the Ajax model is something they want to replicate.

For me Van Gaal ticks all the boxes.

Yes. Was my choice even before MON left and we have missed 2 opportunities to get  him now don't miss the third one Randy.

Well, remember his boss at The Times is Tony Evans.  I was listening to Evans on Talksport a couple of nights ago and it was very clear that he has no clue about Villa or where we are as a club.  According to Evans, Villa are not a top six club, have no money and have players who all want off.  Yet at the his same time, this Evans - as I've typed here before - bends over backwards to give his beloved Liverpool the most breathtakingly positive of spins.  It really makes me question his integrity as a balanced journalist.  (I'm pretty sure they are doing all they can to make Young and Downing think Anfield is the place to be.)
