GHou was somewhat left-field when he came in; the club - as said above - will keep it tight and may well not appoint the obvious candidate.

I would love Van Gaal and I'm surprised he hasn't been mentioned more. Perhaps he has in our board room .

My personal left field choice last season was Ottmar Hitzfeld. What's he up to these days?

I think you've missed a '9' before the '6' on Steve McLaren there,  Dave P.

I'd be happy with Martinez

Why? I don't see the attraction.

I thought Wigan played good football, With more money behind him and his spanish contacts I think he could do well, Don't get me wrong Big carlo is my first choice and he always has been but I'd rather Martinez than Mclaren, benitez & Jol

According to the guy interviewed on SSN last night we should go for Mourinho.

I can't decide whether this was tongue in cheek, or he was insane.

Can we forget about this Ancellotti business - he's clearly not interested and to keep bringing him up means that who we do bring in will only look like a poor second best. Personally I'd have Moyes first but he's also not interested - it's a sad state of affairs when we can't attract someone who's  been at a club so long with limited resources. I'd be pleased with most of the names mentioned so far in fact McClaren would also be ok - but not first choice.

He put in place the foundations of Swansea's success. He came in, set a philosophy, and found some decent unknown talent from abroad and persuaded them to join Swansea, And got them playing good football. I personally think given a chance at a club like ours, with financial backing, he could do well.

We should remember a quote from the time when everybody loved Martin O'Neill:

Nobody knows anything.
