Mat kendrick has cited purely English based managers plus mclaren, jol but not Benitez or the other Spanish fella. I think the only way we could get moyes would be to promise him loads of cash, which would be good. Although I think moyes has made a number of brilliant signings in the mid level of the Market: Howard, baines, jagielka, Lescott, arteta, Cahill, pienaar all cost less than £5m which is a fantastic track record when compared to the players MON bought in that range. But his record at the upper end of the Market is much more mixed. Yakubu, bilayetdinov, fellaini are the biggies I think. Only really fellaini has cut the mustard. in part that will be because the milner and downing type signings were out of bounds I guess.

I'd also be much less antipathetic to Hughes than a lot of people seem to be. I know his Blackburn team were originally pretty brutal, but I think his sides play better football than some give him credit for.

Ancelloti, Moyes, Martinez, Villas Boas.
Would love it to be Ancelloti with Wilkins,  but see it as being Moyes

Why the love affair with Wilkins? - he's Chelsea through and through. Sid also played in Italy ...

I like the fact that on skysports.com they have an article saying "Houllier's not gone yet" above a link to the odds for "Next Permanent Aston Villa Manager".

Sir Dennis was on WM this morning.
He made the point ablout Moyes that many of us have said.

'What's the big deal about Moyes'
He hasn't won anything in the game, and the Everton would take us to the cleaners in terms of compensation.

Ancellotti for me please.

Kind of how I feel, a big time manager. It'd be like the signing of Darren Bent all over again. It'd be a real statement of intent to get him.

Benitez is going to be all over Villa like a fat Spanish waiter over a chubby sangria-sozzled housewife on the Costa del Sol.

Hughes would not be a bad choice.
Neither would Moyes.
Both are employed though so would that go against Randy's ethic.
Ancelotti would be a brave and interesting choice, and why wouldn't he come.
Benitez is an interesting one as would be Rainieri. Both experienced, both winners, both able to manage clubs our size and ambition
Lastly Martinez. He'd certainly liven the place up, but what has he won and again he has a job and with a market full of unemployed talent choosing one such is the more viable option.
Unless of course one who is employed walks

my choice would be martin jol...

out of work, a good manager who plays good football, knows how to play the media, has good european knowledge, got a pretty average spuds side to the brink of champs league and laid the foundations for redknobb to actually get there (albeit with the dip of ramos which made redknobb look better than he is), knows the english game, and i think would be a fantastic appointment...

I don't want any of them, they're all fucking usless, tactically inept wankers.
