The board don't like how Hughes left frowning upon his decision and as of a result didn't want anything to do with him, yet they're quite happy with how McLeish left (probably even worse) and then go and give him the job?

I'd like this discussed in here to get some replies and to create a topic of conversation.

The only thing we know about the hughes thing, is that we definately know nothing. Villa did not speak about it, and hughes did not speak about it. You have read the papers who said Randy didn't like the way he left, but we also know for certain that no journalist knows what happened either!
But if they didn't have a problem with how Hughes left I would of thought it make the most sense to give the job to Hughes straight away rather than fannying around for over 2 weeks and then giving the job to McLeish, who ironicially resigned by E-Mail.

I'm putting myself in Randy's shoes and I still have no idea what's going inside his head.

As a fan, we choose the Manager we believe can bring us success. As a Chairman and owner, Randy probably made his choice on who he thought he could work closely with and who he thought he could trust with his £100m+ investment.

Hughes did absolutely nothing wrong. There was a clause in his contract that allowed either him or the club to cancel the contract after 12 months, which he chose to do.

Alex McLiesh shit on the city.

Yea, that's what's left me really confused.

He was entitled to opt out as it said in his clause, yet Eck resigns by E-Mail because he can't face being fired after failing to take the Blues up straight away.

They cant be that good, they were protected by having the whole team behind the ball for the most part and they still finished in the bottom three.

Must admit I only saw them in our games against them and the League semi.

25 goals conceded in 20 league games with Dann.

33 in 18 without him.

Alright. I'll admit. They were pretty flimsy straws i was clutching at.

So, part one of the plan is complete. McLeish takes the scum down.  Part two in process, make Villa great again.  Get to it.

'McLeish will sort out our defensive problems' is something that is read regularly but doesn't seem to quite stack up, he has these two centre halves and a keeper that seem to be highly rated, a defensive pair of experienced full backs and everyone else behind the ball yet he still gets relegated.

I'm beginning to think that they are holding back on the official announcement until the page number on this thread reaches the magic 666. 8)

Say what you like but I've got one of those tartan caps with the built in ginger hair and have been dying to give it an outing. All my prayers are about to be answered.........

The souvenir shop are going to make a killing out of this. Claret and Blue caps with ginger hair.

As long as people do not have to turn them around the other way so as to not see what is going on on the pitch.

I think we will get an idea of McLeish's tactics with his purchase of fullbacks.  If either of them are Ridgewell/Cuellar types we can anticipate a dour season.

Randy wanted someone he could feel comfortable with, he has a soft spoken gentleman type CEO who will not cause him heartburn and an ex army general to take the attack up to the enemy (villa supporters) AM from all reports is loyal and respectful and a very very nice man, Randy has got the treble. Trouble is they're all crap at their job.

FACE IT, IT'S GOING TO BE A DISASTER

No amount of wishful thinking will change it.

What's even more ironic is the fact everyone on here was talking up how honourably we were behaving in getting a manager whilst we were allegedly tapping McLeish up.

What's scary is the fact that anyone would want McLeish enough to actually tap him up.

A week is a long time in football. Last week we were shuddering at the thought of Roberto Martinez. If only we'd known who choice number two was.
