Ah well as good as that would be if he turned us down that would show what a terrible offer we are putting on the table.

I think you're being trolled on Twitter by people on small heath forum.

They've started to spread lies.

I've got evidence.

I keep on reading people saying how good he was in Scotland.  When you look more deeply and understand that in recent years it has been Rangers or Celtic that clean up on honours (and usually because the other is going through a bad period), his record is not that good.

Starting with:

Motherwell in 1994 - 2nd in PL, relegation battle, relegation battle, quit

Hibs 1999 - 1st Div champions, mid table PL, 3rd in PL

Rangers 2001 - 2 cups, treble, nothing (fans protests, 7 consecutive derby lossses), title, nothing (fans protests, 10 games without a win), quit

Scotland 2007 - a few good results and almost qualified for Euros, quit after 10 months

and on to Blues and the rest has been a 'proven (poor) PL experience'

As I said, not much there to say he did well in Scotland and as somebody else pointed out, he came 3rd in a two horse race one year.

Next is the myth that he was not backed financially at Blues.  In the last two seasons he spent £36m and that is net because not one of his sales brought in any income.  What has our net spend been in the last two years!

Many of the people that are saying he is a good manager (even some on here) have glossed over the above.

Other than the cup win this year, his last significant success was in 2004-2005 when he won the title with Rangers.  He may have managed teams in his earlier years that played good football but that was 10 or more years ago.  Rangers fans were not too impressed with him.

I just feel that the appointment of Alex McLeish is being forced on to us by so many people outside the club saying that he is a good manager.  He is a likeable person, comes over well and hard working but he is not a good coach or a good manager.  Why do we seem to be swimming against the tide of opinion from outside the club and our owner swallowing it.

I have tried to think of an analogy for the situation we are in and the most apt would be:

Going into a supermarket nearing closing time and looking for a joint of Aberdeen angus beef.  All that there is left is one piece that looks as though it has been kicked around the floor all day by the customers, limp, lifeless and been on the shelf too long.

Next to it are some wonderful looking joints of imported beef, all fresh and very tempting.

I think to myself that the recipe says that it has to be British and Scotch is best and afterall, as the recipe had been written by a famous chef, it must be the right choice.

Randy, if you read this, rip up the recipe, leave the Aberdeen bloke on the shelf and go for the foreign alternative.

Ads,   When did McLeish ever achieve mid table mediocrity?   The only club in a proper league he has ever managed were relegated twice in three and a half years.

That was with a fan base who were supportive of everything he did.   You must think the tsunami of hostility he is going to get from the Villa fans will help him achieve a level of competence he has never shown before.

He will not get a fair shake from the Villa fans because he has been foisted on them.   He does not deserve one.   He will not get one from me.   I intend to treat the authorities at Villa Park the way they treat us - with contempt.

I wonder if Lerner is trying to keep the backroom staff rather than get rid and let a new man bring in his own staff? - although pat Murphy is the last to know anything villa since his slating over o neills departure.

Just heard it myself on Capital FM, maybe they've seen protests and made it up but it's definitely on the radio, here's hoping.

Anybody could achieve midtable mediocrity with this squad. He’d improve the defence as a priority, which I think would be the main focus whoever is appointed, and Bent will score his goals.

Saying talks have stalled or it's off are very different things, they may be having a break until the morning for all we know?
