I really couldn't care less that he's coming from the nose's, its his terrible record and dreadful football.  The board clearly have no plan.  After MON left bringing GED seemed at least to be part of some long term plan to improve our style of play, even replacing him with Martinez made sense on that level. But having gone through all of last seasons lows seems to have been a total waste if/when McLeish arrives with his borig long ball game.  At least appointing him to replace MON last year would have been replacing like with like in terms of style.

I love Aston Villa and always will, nobody can take that from me, my faith in the club is as strong as ever but my faith in Randy is very shaken.

Well, what a truely shit day.

Went to see my mom in hospital today and initial indications from the scan are that she has liver cancer.  I then come home to find out about the news of Alex McLeish.

Tomorrow I go back to the hospital for the full report but I am holding out no hope as she is 84, has dementia and with the sudden weight loss it is almost certain.  It will be just about the worst day of my life if AM is appointed manager as well.

At this point in time I have no feelings for the club and Randy Lerner as my thoughts are with my mother and our family.

I said last night if Randy Lerner makes this decision he will have made his bed and have to lie in it.

I just cannot see any logic or reason for appointing AM based on his three and a half seasons in English football.

My thoughts are with you and your mother.  Try and stay strong.

Frankly since the whole removal of Houllier we have been a joke, and now this is the brutal brutal punchline.

I already know we won't be competing for the Champions League any time soon. That's not in the plan any more. I just wasn't aware that our owner was so foolish as to appoint a third-rate manager, who has come directly from our hated and inferior neighbours after getting them relegated (twice), and who will split the Villa Park support right down the middle before a ball has even been kicked. And until the proof is there, I simply won't believe it. In fact, it's so utterly beyond the boundaries of sanity that I'd be an absolute idiot to believe it.

That's sad news, so sorry to hear that.

Just on Radio5 that Blues are launching a complaint alleging that Villa "tapped up" their manager....!

I've tried to put a brave face on it, maybe see the humour in the situation, hoped because none of us knew anything neither did the media...but it's happening. I can no longer think of a positive. The move is wrong from all angles and barring the formality of an interview, it's the biggest mis-step the club will have made since I started supporting them.

The atmosphere at VP is going to be dreadful for the first home game. We'll have to win 5-0 playing like Barcelona for the crowd to not get on his back straight away. Oh Randy, what are you doing.

I seem to remember when Mr Lerner took over, there was talk that if he couldn't achieve his lofty ambitions, he would sell up and give somebody else a go.

Got anyone lined up yet Randy?

What we need to do is vote on the "how important is it to appoint a Premiership Experianced manager" poll..

If the board see the thread has 100% of fans saying that they dont feel its an important issue...They may broaden their search to overseas managers..Which will open up more doors.. Maybe then, managers in the mould of Van Gaal, Rijkaard, Bernd Schuster and Flores(all of which are currently available) could be considered?

Its a poll that could save our club!  8)

I just cannot see any logic or reason for appointing AM based on his three and a half seasons in English football.

He has no experience of English football. He remained in his own little bubble of Scottish football.
