Just got back from an afternoon and evening visiting family and thought I'd catch up on whats been happening.
The problem is I can't believe it, one of the kids must have spiked my tea with LSD. :o Think I'll go to bed and sleep it off, then everything will make sense in the morning.

Moyes and McLeish now 11/10.

Is that good or bad, from a sane Villa fan's perspective that is? As I may have mentioned before, gambling odds are lost on me.

basically if the 2nd number gets near the 1st number its bad odds, so roughly things are looking up/looking really bad in equal measure

I'm still lost but thanks for the explanation. The only conclusion I'm reaching is that being a bookmaker is probably profitable.

10-1. put 1 pound down, and if you win get 10 back. and so on.

Profitable, but not the license to print money lots of people think it is.

I don't work for a major bookie any more, but when I did, the FD told me that over the course of a year, the percentage of money staked which goes back to the punters in terms of winnings is 92 / 93 percent or so.

Then, out of that you've got your running costs, tax etc etc to come out, and the figures are less impressive. There's obviously money in it, but it is about gigantic turnovers, and tiny margins.

EDIT I can't believe I'm rambling on about this shit. Sorry. It's been an awful, long day.

Mirror

Birmingham's Second City rivalry with Aston Villa is set to reach dangerous new levels of tension after Alex McLeish’s shock resignation.

City’s directors are fuming after manager McLeish quit with a business-like email yesterday - just three weeks after the club stood by him as the club were relegated.

And Blues fans are also raging after learning the Scot is now odds-on favourite with bookies to take charge at nearby managerless Villa.

And even rival Villa supporters are unimpressed at the prospect of taking the boss of their relegated neighbours.

But it is City’s hierarchy - who have received no approach from Villa - who are especially livid after publicly backing McLeish following relegation from the Premier League.

St Andrews owner Carson Yeung stood by McLeish this summer as scout Paul Montgomery was the fall guy.

Brum have since signed three Bosmans - Marlon King, Chris Burke and Senegalese midfielder Morgaro Gomis from Dundee United at McLeish’s request.

The club’s acting chairman Peter Pannu was also in Amsterdam yesterday negotiating for PSV Eindhoven’s Danny Koevermans when McLeish suddenly quit.

And Pannu contacted Mirrorsport to explain City’s board feel betrayed by McLeish and are planning legal action.

Pannu, a former Hong Kong cop and barrister, said: “We have just brought in three players of his choice.

“And whilst in Amsterdam, having secured him the fourth one, an email on Sunday when I am on business speaks volumes.

“We spent £40million, supported him all the way and what we get is a relegation and a snub when Carson gave him unwavering support and did not sack him.

“We declared his job secure and professed trust and confidence in him, so much so we have just negotiated four of his new first choice players.

“I won’t blame any outside clubs yet until I find out more.

“He is still our contracted staff and BCFC does not grant him any right to speak to any outsiders until the matter is resolved.

“I will be meeting my legal team on Monday. I will deal with this and rest assured I will leave no stones unturned.

“It’s about time some discipline is instilled into this game and I am unfortunately not a person who gets pushed about.”

Villa aborted a move for ex-England boss Steve McClaren amid a negative reaction from fans but appointing McLeish would be far more controversial.

Ron Saunders was the last manager to cross the Second City back in 1982.

But Villa owner Randy Lerner has been under growing pressure to make an appointment since Wigan’s Roberto Martinez turned them down last week.

Lerner has also seen proposed moves for Rafa Benitez and David Moyes fail to materialise.

The American has long been impressed with McLeish’s work across the A38 on a comparatively modest budget.

When West Ham visited Villa last August, home directors thoroughly quizzed the Hammers’ ex-Blues owners about McLeish, who they appointed in November 2007.

McLeish has made some brilliant cheap signings like Scott Dann, Stephen Carr, Roger Johnson and Ben Foster - plus Craig Gardner from Villa themselves.

Brum won the Carling Cup last season beating Villa en-route on a shameful night of crowd violence which illustrated the animosity between the two clubs.

McLeish has also had his own issues with City’s board - particularly over the expensive signing of Nikola Zigic on £50,000-a-week.

Now another boardroom squabble is looming for McLeish’s services with the Scot keen to work for a club with bigger resources.

In the meantime, Yeung must also make his first managerial appointment after buying Brum in October 2009.

Allardyce would have been the likeliest candidate but he has since gone to West Ham.

And the initial names remaining in the frame include Gianfranco Zola, Chris Hughton and Roberto Di Matteo.

McLeish will not be booed by me... yet, says Villa fan

A mate of mine is a bookie and he's useless. It's not so much the tips he gives us don't win. half the time they don't even start the race.

The future's bright, the future's orange. Or a bit ginger anyway.

p.s the future doesn't really involve people called McLeish, or Strachan.

Or Spice.

On Moyes wiki site...At the end of the 2010/11 campaign Moyes was once again linked with the Villa job, following Gerard Houlliers heart scare and he replied to the speculation "As far as I know I'm here and I'm the manager. "I want to have a club, though, where I can give the supporters something, I really do. "I want a good fresh challenge when we come back next summer and hopefully that will be the case."
