im sure if we wanted hughes we could approach fulham
and offer them compensation for his final 2 weeks- it woild save fulham paying him and waiting until july 1st wouldnt be feasible with transfers being done now- we cannot afford to miss out on players while waiting weeks for a manager- hughes, or benitez if not moyes would all be good choices but it appears not in randys eyes.

Whoever is to be appointed manager, will, more than likely, not have been wanted by a large number of fans and so they will be off to a bad start straight away. If the first few matches don't go well, then more fans get on their back, the pressure builds, and they get sacked, then we're back in this position again, where there would be less choice of managers because nobody deemed good enough by the fans, would want to manage Villa.

moyes and his close sources have repeatedly said hes not interested in villa yet still people do not seem
to understand that - i would love it to be moyes but it isnt going to happen!
He said he was not interested in leaving Everton when employed by Everton. The two things are very different!

Like BFR said he wasn't leaving Wednesday for Villa and then shortly after was unvieled as our new manager. I havn't ruled it out yet personally.

I would have suggested we give them Heskey by way of compensation but thats a bit like hitting them over the head with a sledge hammer.

I voted for anybody but McLeish.

This is representative of the feeling amongst probably 90% of posters, including my own first reaction.
Then I read this -

'Of course, they (Villa) could argue that anyone who got Birmingham relegated twice in the space of four years should be seen as something of a cult hero at Villa Park.'
Telegraph

Well, that's a different way of looking at it!  Positive spin or what?
Pondering. In case it happens.

It's ridiculous to say anyone but McLeish. Frying pan to the fire springs to mind. I don't want McLaren either. Both fucking useless. I don't want Villa to compromise or fool the fans into thinking it's ok because we didn't appoint McLeish.  We are better than that.

the difference with big ron though is he always had an ambition to manage villa and started here as a kid, moyes has no such ties to villa.

A few weeks back I would have been happy with Hughes. That seems a long time ago now. What have I missed on this issue with Hughes, why would it be in a couple of weeks time?
His contract with Fulham states that if he quits, he can't talk to other interested parties for a month.

So? That just means that we would have to pay them a token amount of compensation if we took him before then. We would have to pay a lot more to Blues for McLeish who, I assume, had a lot more than one month left on his contract.

I won't be content until I see a statement from the club that reads...."Don't be daft we're not that fucking stupid"

I totally disagree with any suggestion that our great club is being made to look like a joke. Why? Because we are taking our time to appoint the right man for the job and we would actually like to have a chat with him before we hand him a fat contract and give him control over the playing side of the club? Because Martinez realised he wasn't in pole position for the job so decided to sign a better contract with Wigan rather than fail an 'interview' with us and have to go back there. Who else has turned us down that we honestly know of? Whatever you think of Hughes and McLeish, do you think they would turn us down? The only people who look a joke are the media who blatantly don't have a clue whats going on but still keep pissing in the wind. I know we do the same thing on here, but this is our bit of fun. If I was attemping to be any kind of respected journalist I wouldn't be throwing out a new guess every day in print or on TV like I would on here. And that's why they have a problem. The club don't look silly, we don't look silly, but they do.

Calm down dears.

We have the best chairman/owner in English (and possibly world) football. He's virtually one of us FFS!!!!
Do you honestly think he would give the job to that fucking bell-end from across the way? If we don't want him, Randy won't want him either.

I still believe he will deliver what the 49-point-whatever of us asked for in the real poll.

These things take time, thats all.
