Its a soap opera because the idiots writing this horseshite do not have a fist fucking clue and switch on a daily basis from "number 1 target!!!!!" to the next "number 1 target!!!!!".

What a load of wank. 10 days without a manager, a week and a bit into June. Fuck off Fleet Street.

I'll give anybody odds of 1000 - 1 on McLeish right now.

I'll give you a 5000-1 double.

McLeish new Villa manager AND Roberto Martinez to become manager of (and I quote Dave Whelan here) either Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man Utd or Arsenal within the next 12 months.

Imagine stealing Birmingham's manager! What a coup!

You see, this is what happens when you give scousers access to technology. No good will come of it.

Another day another set of made up shite from the media- McLeish. Really? This is what a private minded board creates. Papers having to go through every manager one by one, bookies changing odds, twitter people taken seriously with an 'ITK' after every pointless and made up pile of crap they throw out.

I am frustrated like most as I want things now, I do not like the media slagging off Aston Villa and I would like to have better names linked to our great club right now. But...

Randy and co are looking for a candidate to take our club forward. Randy has invested a great deal of wealth into this. There is no reason in the world he would appoint, for example, a manager of our rivals that was just relegated putting together a team so fucking boring that large parts of their fan base want him out dispite winning their first meaningful cup since before I was born. And anyone who says 'well he might want to push us to safety without ambition- the cheap option'- it will not be missed that McLeish is no stranger to relegation. And as for approaching Wigan, good, they are looking at a range of Managers. It does not mean that any named person will get the job, despite what the papers say.

On forums people get pissed off not knowing and start to bitch and cling to snippets, Journos get pissed off and make shit up to fill papers. By connecting the Birmingham Manager to Villa they will sell a few papers in the Midlands and as they no other clue that made up crap is as good as any other.

I honestly believe (hope) that Randy is considering candidates beyond the latest half a dozen that the bookies have at the moment as favourites, and if there is no appointment within 48 hours there will be other managers that are top of our list. I honestly do not feel that Randy has gotten rid of Ged to sign a half arsed Manager.

The NOTW's sister paper The Sun had us down for Owen Coyle today, so i would'nt worry about it too much, between both the rags, they have'nt got a clue and besides, Grayson to Villa would'nt have sold many papers.

I cannot justify it, but I like the idea of Grayson

Positives:
1. Young yet has managed at a high profile club with high expectations
2. Has achieved a decent level of success considering the clubs he has been with
3. Has played for Villa so should know a bit about the ethos of the club
4. (If he is any good) I could see him really building something over a number of years

Negatives
1. Never managed in the Prem
2. No evidence of having a decent scouting network
3. Left Blackpool for Leeds, yet it is Blackpool who have progressed further

4-3 winner.

He didn't get Leeds out of the third tier even though they were by far the biggest club with the most resources in the division and last season they didn't make the play offs. I really can't see anything from this track record which is appealing.

He DID get leeds out of the third tier in his first full season.

Not to mention the handicap of the fan's expectations and not having any money to spend.  I must admit I would be MUCH happier if he was to be supported by an experienced Dof football with better contacts.

Actually when you think about it, Mcliesh makes perfect sense as MON's natural successor. Made his name winning tinpots north of the border, advocate of the hoof so he should be able to get the likes of Dunne firing on all cylinders, won a pot as well. Hmmm....I can see the logic.

1. As everyone can see, I have kept a low profile over the past week...because there are times when it is just best to let things play out. A week or so ago some Fans and the Press were going crazy over what was going to happen re. GH. At that time I tried to make it clear that The Club was NOT going to conduct business in the media....that it wasn't fair to GH nor was it fair to the Club. We all acted in a professional manner and business was taken care of. Now we have the old complaint of "dithering"...as if choosing and obtaining a Manager was a simple as going to M&S and ordering up a Balti Pie. I am not sure where our "expert Fans" get their information on how to go about picking a Manager in a week...but I would sure like to know. A great many things go into the equation....advice from people in the "business", discussions with agents and people with access, research on everything from record of success (history) to connectivity with the players in the dressing room to effective use of personnel to compatability with Owner and people at the Club, to many, many, other things. To some fans it seems like just a simple act....and more importantly, a "signal" about something called "ambition." As if one Manager sends a bigger "ambition" signal than another....forget about whether that Manager "fits" with the Club. I have said it once and I will say it again...we will NOT conduct business in the media...we will NOT react to the nonsense that is printed in the media...and we will NOT seek a Manager who simply gets a thumbs-up from the Fans. We will get the very best man for the job...in our opinion and in the opinion of those who assist in the decision process. Once we get our man, we will give him all the support he needs. Randy has NEVER failed to support his Manager. I know it is a waste of my time to ask for patience and calmness over the next week or two...BUT, be patient...it will get done.

So reading that i think those looking for a manager that says "ambition" will be disappointed. Grayson it is then

what he's saying is that all manager's speak of ambition, but that it still needs to fit within the parameters of what club is trying to achieve now, in the mid and long term.

No, he's saying that a manager alone doesnt determine whether you're ambitious or not and that the criteria isnt just a "name".
It doesnt really give anything away as to who we're after or their experience or pedigree.
Just that they're after the manager who will fit best, which is what you'd hope.

We're not shit, whatever the media twats are saying, so the guy we're after won't be shit either.

It says that they are trying to find the man that they think is best for the job. Fair play to them, and I wait with intrigue to see who it is.

I hope if a top name is not in the frame that they do go for someone young and fresh Greg in fairness, Grayson/ Coyle/ Lambert type who have their own fire and ambition to succeed.
