Regarding this supposed stonewall penalty Dunne was supposed to have given away.

From what I could see, Dunne got his leg in the way of the ball, then Ramsay kicked it. As I see it, this is a foul to Aston Villa and not a penalty. Or is the Arsenal player entitled to kick the ball unchallenged?

Got to admit I thought 'penalty' at the time and still think we were lucky for it no to be given.

Bent is Bent and you know what he's going to do.  What surprised me, and probably turned a 3-2 defeat into a 1-2 win, was the defending.  Collins in particular was excellent and it was a return to the old 'they shall not pass' attitude we had under MON.  More of that please.

must be me but I thought collins in the second had got slaughtered. Walkers improved defending, Friedels blocks, the posts and their poor shhoting did far more.
But then I remember some epic 'defensive' displays in london under mon, far worse than yesterdays too.

Certainly not looking over our shoulders and showing concern over other teams' results.

NRC & Young7 body language at final whistle would seem to confirm both are leaving, pity
as Nigel is type of player we need to bring the Delphs, Bannans & Gardners through in next couple of
years.

Whilst our away support is amongst the best- we excelled ourselves yesterday and really were
the 12th man on this occasion.

Inclusion of Delph gave us more energy and the back four looked solid with Brad senior defying the
critics (me included) with a motm performance.

That's pretty much what I meant.  Those usually get given at places like Arsenal, so although it would have been the wrong decision I was surprised they didn't get it.

Young seemed to wave goodbye as well as hand his shirt over. It's inevitable, it's time for him to go so let's just maximise the fee.

We lived very precariously in defence at times, but it was always going to be like that after half time. We needed to keep the ball better than we did but I have to give credit to Dunne and Collins who got their bodies in the way of most things thrown at them, while Friedel was there when they didn't. Considering Delph has hardly played I thought he showed some good touches and tried to drive us forward when he had the chance in the 2nd half. Downing didn't stop working - including defensively.

Has anyone got a decent pic of Bent scoring the first goal? It's make a cracking wallpaper. I've trawled a fair few sites and most of the picture galleries show the ball in our penalty area. Looks like the photographers were as optimistic as most of us going into the match yesterday.
