Where is this HTC thing coming from?

They've been working on an official Aston Villa android app for us.  Could be 2+2=5 or it could be the start of a beatuiful friendship.

So it's not our shirt and we had nothing to do with it. I bet taht it's still our fault though, eh? Says it all reealy.

It's not as though it was difficult to work out that it wasn't the official shirt

From SCG11:

Quote
As of yet there is no sponsor for the club shirts and therefore one option the club is considering is that the new strip maybe made available without the sponsors name. However if people do purchase one, then you will be able to return the shirt to have the sponsors name on at a later date. The kit is due out July for away and August for home. There will be no discount for the strip even though last years only came out 5 months ago.

When did SCG11 take place?

...

27th April 2011

I thought people would be excited with the prospect of an official replica shirt without a sponsor's logo on the front.

The one which was released recently? I thought that was Perform media.

EDIT - just checked, it is indeed Perform.

It was launched with HTC though which certainly suggests a link.

HTC are an exciting and vibrant brand that's growing, if true, I think it would be a great sponsor.

This is true. The Aston Villa application was indeed first released at the HTC Roadshow in Birmingham.

Here's the story:

Linky.

Well spotted.

There are lots of related stories 'n' shit here.

However, let's remain Villa fans here. It could, and most possibly will, be bollocks.

As the poster above said, it was launched at a HTC roadshow - along with lots of other apps which they wanted to use to push their hardware - I don't see that as much of a link beyond "here's a high profile, new app which will get awareness in this week's location".

It wasn't really much of a collaboration beyond that.

Can I also say once again, 15mb for an app, ESPECIALLY with no app2SD option is too stupid for me to put in to words.

Shows as 6.5mb on my phone.

It's probably written in some horrible cross compiler rather than native Java. We looked at a load of these for some mobile games we're producing, but they all produced bloated end products.

I wonder if the players will be wearing the new kit at the final home game? If it is that one its a better shirt than the current one but its so similar to the 08-09 one (Acorns aside) i probably wont buy it. And i hate white socks.

Phone makers. They seemed to come out of nowhere a few years back.

My friend has one and really doesn't like it.

That's an excellent feature.
