Have been following Danny. Not hilarious but, as a fan of his broadcasting, quite joyous. Some recent posts:

Suddenly, tho not unusually, we have a house full. Even more predictable I corral all the men in my office and Youtube Santana at Woodstock.

carried away, I decide to see if I can drink a little beer yet. Disasterous idea. Now it feels like Santana are playing in my mouth.

Just told I'm a typical cancerian. The stright line ive been waiting for. "Well insofar as im being treated for cancer." Get in!

Forgot i'd given my toothbrush to the dogs. Making do with toothpaste smeared on emery board.

Brushing teeth with emery board when wife walks in asking if i'd seen her emery board anywhere. There followed a powerful stand-off.

Bit frosty in bed now. Wendy can't be angry with me (i'm technically still ill) but is turning pages of her book like a whip cracking.

The great Danny Baker joined Twitter this week (username prodnose), and has already made it twice as enjoyable. Sample posts:

"Zonal marking can only work if the other team have previously agreed to only Zonal attack."

He might be a broadcasting genius, but obviously knows next to fuck all about the game.

Always loved listening to him though.

You missed off your sarcastic or tongue in cheek icon.

For those that care, Danny's return show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p00g11rz

The intro is fantastic. His BBC London show is a different beast from his 5 Live stuff but still a joy to listen to.

I wish he'd stayed on 606, the show has gone down hill since he left

What?

Are you forgetting David Mellor's "Red Hot Soccer Chat" on 606?

It's almost as if he was joking.

Of course, but it still sounds like a glib dismissal of something he doesn't quite get, like some old duffer behind me down the match who always used to ask "Why are they marking space? When did space score a goal"?

That's meant to be a joke too, but he's still making a stupid point based on ignorance, like Bernard Manning.
