Hope Trump hammers the bung-taking bastard.

See I thought that at the start of the tournament.  In fairness all I had seen when thinking this was the NOTW video.
I looked into it a bit deeper after that

Now I'm not saying Higgins is innocent (only he knows that for sure), but:

1. Higgins was cleared of the more serious crime by an impartial panel.
2. The NOTW tried to get Higgins to agree not to sue them before the hearing.
3. The video is highly edited.
4. The NOTW refused to hand over the full footage to Higgins camp.
5. A week after the original story, the NOTW put out a story about Higgins supposedly betting against himself, which was proven to be bullshit.
6. The NOTW has to be the biggest joke in modern media.

Watching the video alone, its pretty damning.  It certainly doesn't look like Higgins is worried or fears for his safety.  It also doesn't look great that Higgins was actively adding to the idea by suggesting ways the money could be paid.  However, no one can truly know that Higgins version of events isn't true.

I'm certainly not going to put 100% faith in a newspaper which has been proven time and time again to be untrustworthy.

For what it's worth, I think Higgins should have received a longer ban for not reporting the meeting in the first place.

I don't much rate the NOTW but still rate Higgins as a crook on the basis that...

(i) He didn't have to agree to throw frames. He did.
(ii) If he was too scared to not agree to their demands, he could have alerted the local police as soon as he got out of there. He didn't.
(iii) If he didn't trust the local police he could've alerted the police and snooker authorities as soon as he got back to Britain. He didn't.
(iv) If he was apalled by the situation he ended up in he could've sacked his manager at the earliest possible opportunity for putting him in that situation. He didn't.

Trump to win this one I hope. Cheats should not prosper.

Looks like bloody Higgins is gonna win. An excellent tournament will now be remembered for a tainted finish. Shame.
