Good points but Jimmy went for less in 3 overs than Dernbach did in one! I know that Dernbach has this slower ball and good variation but, with 7 bowlers to choose from, Cook should have continued with Jimmy. I assumed he was taken off to be saved for the end.

Jimmy is a wonderful bowler and the leader of our attack so I agree that he should have bowled all of his quota. Dernbach has much more variety in his locker but needs to learn when to use such weapons. He's got to learn sometime and the Rose Bowl match was a good a place as any.

Anderson is blowing this Indian batting line-up away single-handedly at the moment. They are offering nothing, must be desperate to leave England now.

This is the first time I've seen Finn bowl in a while, he has really put on some serious pace to his bowling. He's consistently around 92 mph and up to 95.

Good to see England go through the Indian half of the summer unbeaten. The bookies would have been offering very long odds on that back in July.

Although they lost 3-0, India played better in the ODI series than the scoreline suggests. We face a difficult ODI series out there in October.

Without getting carried away, we seem to be developing a strong ODI squad. I was very impressed by Bairstow last night, he was so cool on debut. If you add Morgan & KP to the batting line up last night, who do you drop? That's without considering Taylor from Leics and Stokes from Somerset. I'd drop Trott and Bell; a top four where three of the places are taken up by Cook, Trott and Bell is a little staid.

The bowling attack is developing some depth and variety. Finn, Dernbach, Bresnan, Broad, Anderson, Swann and Patel. You can also add Woakes and a few others to that list.

Interesting times ahead.
