One of the commentators - Hugh Porter I think it said his name was - was terrible.  It seemed that every time he identified a rider, or made a comment on how things might pan out, it was immediately shown to be wrong.  He makes Motson sound like Arlott.

Yep, that was dreadful.  Had no idea who the team was, let alone the rider.

Yeah embarrassing. On a different note, I think the winner has been done for drugs before I hope nothing sinister has gone on here.

Handball is a very fast sport. I can imagine it looking stupid with men playing it though.

Meh, Cav didn't ride as fast as others did so didn't win. Tough.

Watched the final of the archery and quite enjoyed it. Hard to imagine archery could be remotely exciting but the last Italian needed a 10 to win Gold and had only a few seconds left on the clock to do it. Balls of steel signor.

made all the better by the fact that it was right on the edge of going into a 9, flush centre wouldn't have been anything like as awesome a finish.

As I've not been on this thread since - opening ceremony was superb, everyone involved deserves massive credit for getting it spot on, watched in a norwegian bar with people of about 15 different nationalities and everyone thought it was perfectly British.

Gutted for Cav earlier, as mentioned elsewhere, too many riders in the peloton wanted to conserve energy for a sprint and just sat behind the brits, wiggo and co rode their hearts out for him but was always going to be too big an ask in those circumstances.

Can't he but think that Switzerland vs Greece women's beach volleyball is what Sepp Blatter had in mind for women's football. Some superb athleticism on view.

During the time out just now, they played the Benny Hill chase music. #nottakingthesportseriously

Cough.

Apparently not available to watch on Freeview. Shame as I quite like beach volleyball.

Just packed my bags as I'm going down on Tuesday. Just in time for the real sport (Athletics) which starts on Friday. All these sitting down and/or getting wet sports are OK but you can't beat a bit of running, jumping and throwing. Can't wait getting there and picking up my uniform.

My 16 year old cousin is there watching it. Sticky sheets in his room tonight, I suspect.

Him and his mates are staying at Eton College. Why the organisers think that is a good place for a bunch of Forest kids is anyone's guess. They could do Legion-esque damage to the school.

Love Cavendish responding to a reporter asking him if the Tour De France affected him: "Don't ask stupid questions. Do you know anything about cycling?!?!". He was then pulled away.

Thing is in cycling, unlike say swimming, the fastest won't necessarily win. Also the Olympic road race rarely end in a sprint as small teams make it difficult to keep the pack together.
