And Parker can play for 3/4 years so give him the appropriate length of deal.

I know we've not got the cash but Kalinic from Blackburn wants out. Always thought he looked a good player and worth a shout at the right price.

no thanks!

The time to sign Scott Dann was when McLeish bought him from Coventry for 4 mill - 2 years ago, when we were signing Richard Dunne for 5 mill.

They value him at £6 mill.

I like him, but we aren't in the market for that type of outlay anymore, post N'Zog signing.

Sad, but true.

Slightly humourous analysis of the summer's ins/out in the Premier League from the Telegraph

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/8652986/Premier-League-transfer-table-who-is-winning-the-window.html

Based on their calculations Villa have achieved mid-table mediocrity before a ball is kicked

Interesting that it gives us a squad rating of -5.

Assuming Nzog's a formality and giving him 3 points as proven quality, that would give us a squad rating of -2.

Doesn't make for great reading even if the article is poorly written and in a no of cases factually incorrect.

If its £6 million then no but he would be worth a go at £3 to £4 million he would be worth a go. We are a striker short if bent/gabby gets injured.

Even at £3-4m he's out of our reach. Unless we sell someone for £3-4m. I think we're done with our spending this summer - unless we do end up selling Carlos and using that somewhere. Come to think of it, what happened to the £2.5m fee for Bradley that we 'saved'?

Wouldn't be surprised to see maybe a season-long loan or two, however.

i think we are ok on strikers and expect fonz to stake a real claim , with gabby and heskey as back up fror bent as well i doubt a striker would be signed unless one is sold.

I think its more a case of say, 50k p/w out same in to be honest. I think money is there for the right deal, fee wise.

Agree about loans. I think we'll see a couple in.

I think we are ok on strikers at present.

However, if Bent was to pick up a longish term injury i'd worry.  Gabby whilst working hard is not likely to score a substantial amount of goals, Heskey (insert own lack of goalscoring prowess joke) and Delfouneso and Weimann very definitely have their juries still out.

Scott Parker is 31 in October. I can see West Ham having serious trouble removing him from their wage bill as I can't see any club wanting to pay more than £2m for him and give him the length of contract he'd want, at a salary befitting the current footballer of the year.

If I were McLeish, think I'd be looking to shed Cuellar, Heskey, Beye and use what I can from any fee (maybe £3m collectively from Cuellar and Heskey) and wages to bring in a new CB and a CM. Big ask though.

If Cuellar goes, I'd certainly be making an enquiry about Onohua - where will he be fitting in at City now? He can play RB and CB, which would our resources. City let him leave on a season loan last season....
