Yes but if McLeish does not consider him a right back and prefers Luke, Beye, Lichaj there and also prefers Dunne and Collins with Clarke as back up in the centre, it's quite generous to have such a high earning 4th choice centre half on the books when he knows there's another high earning back up centre half/right back in Beye that wont be shifted this summer either.

mebbe. Given our money problems i would have thought someone who can play in more than one position in the back 4 would be useful though. Can't help feeling he's being moved on mainly because someone wants him while the likes of Beye we can't give away.

Why wouldn't Cuellar sit tight for a year earning double what Rangers would pay and then get a good Bosman move next summer as his final big deal?

I hope he does personally. If collins and Dunne continue like last season we'll need him

I'm sure that's right, he probably realises one of Beye or Cuellar needs shifting, no takers for Beye so it has to Cuellar.  I've never rated Cuellar as a right back so for me he's no loss there and if Eck can get Dunne and Collins back to their best with Clark as back up, he's not really that great a loss.  Yes injuries could mean Beye, Baker, Herd, Lowry, Young may be needed in emergency at centre half, but we could quite conceivably go all season with only a maximum of one of Clarke, Dunne and Collins injured at any one time thereby Cuellar picks up £50k per week and practically wont have played at all.

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has made a shock inquiry about Republic of Ireland winger Aiden McGeady – as he sweats on his bid for Wigan star Charles N’Zogbia.

McLeish is a big admirer of the tricky Spartak Moscow wide-man, who used to dazzle for Scottish giants Celtic when Big Eck was managing their arch-rivals Rangers.

However, McGeady has proved a big hit since he moved to Spartak last August and Villa would probably have to make a huge offer to land him.

The Irishman is an option for McLeish because Wigan are digging their heels in over French flier N’Zogbia, pushing his price up to £10million.

If Villa can sign McGeady for less than that, they will make a move.

Although Spartak are in the middle of their domestic season, a bid of £8m may interest them if the money is paid up front

seems rodwell may be leaving everton which would free up the cash for them to get nzogbia and all our dithering would have seen us miss out again.

Thank god it's the Mirror, and £8 million! Just pay £10 million for N'Zogbia Villa.

The Scot knows he must sell some players to raise funds for his own summer transfer plans, but Jagielka is not on the list of those he is prepared to let move.

One player Moyes may be ready to sell is England Under-21 midfielder Jack Rodwell, whose progress last season was held back by injury.

Rodwell was valued at £25m a year ago and was seen as the heir apparent to Steven Gerrard in the England midfield. But his lack of progress over the last 12 months has forced a rethink at Goodison.

Moyes is still a big fan of the youngster but, with the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Mikel Arteta among his midfield options, Rodwell is not central to his plans.

Manchester United have had an interest in Rodwell for some time, and Sir Alex Ferguson may find a bid of £15m would be enough to take him to Old Trafford.

Moyes would use any cash raised by sales to make a serious bid for Wigan winger Charles N’Zogbia, but does not want the money to come from the departure of Jagielka.

He also hopes to persuade Fellaini to sign a new contract.

Sky Sports sources understand Everton are attempting to beat Aston Villa to the signing of Charles N'Zogbia.

Villa boss Alex McLeish is an admirer of N'Zogbia after trying to sign him when in charge of former club Birmingham.

But Everton, who have yet to sign a player this summer, are hoping to hijack the move and have expressed a significant interest.

Wigan have admitted that finances are dictating the need to sell star player N'Zogbia and chairman Dave Whelan is thought to want more than £10m.

They're not going to let Rodwell go for 15m, especially when people like Henderson are topping 20+m

But Rodwell has'nt left Everton yet so there's no need to panic and besides, McCleish says he has other alternatives if the deal is'nt done, which i think it will be eventually.
