eh? my understanding its 10% on the full amount

No. But if you thought that why did you say: "thought it was 10% of what he went for over 9m?"
?

my understanding was it was 10% on the whole figure so i'd worded that wrong.

I think Wolves would be seriously keen to do business £8m for Jarvis. I think you've been smoking some old carpets or something bigbar. £20m? He isnt in Downing's class or even close.

And Greg, £8m is about what you'd expect to pay for a top young keeper and I'd say Foster was that. But Wigan accepted a bid of around £9m last season for N'Zogbia and he has one year less on his contract (but is perhaps higher rated than then) so £9m is about right.

I wouldn't say he was a top keeper, decent but 8m's worth? nah, certainly not one in the CL. We're paying a premium because they don't want to sell to us for obvious reasons.

First thing whelan will do with Nzogbia is point to the Young fee so including the money we've had to pay watford i doubt there will be much left of the Young fee after.

Young is an international footballer being signed by the Champions. N'Zogbia is a Wigan player being signed by a team that finished 9th so the fee is about right I reckon.

Difficult to say about Foster but again it seems in the right sort of region.

well we'll see i guess. Can't see Wigan letting him go for less than 10+m myself.
Alright, say £10m for him instead of the mooted £9m.
It's hardly to going to kill us, especially if you factor in the Young and (potential) Downing money.
If Wolves did want silly money for Jarvis, then we simply look elsewhere, namely abroad.

just can't see whelan agreeing Nzogbia is worth 8m less than young. He clearly isn't for a start in today's market.

Yes greg but he's looking at N'Zogbia walking for nowt in 12 months time and he'll never let that happen.
He could feasibly go for £10m and maybe a fraction more than that if there's a bidding war (there doesnt appear to be on though) but it's unlikely.
I agree with you that using Young's valuation he could get more, but the truth is he wont be in anything like the demand or esteem Young was held in and will move for more or less exactly what Fletch suggested.

As you say, we'll see.

I cant see wigan letting Nzogbia go until they have tied up the potential signing of Shaun Wright Phillips so we might be in a for a slightly longer wait to get our man

can't see Wigan affording SWP's wages or him agreeing to a drop. Think he'll cling on there in a MFH stylee

Skysports.com understands Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia.

Villa boss Alex McLeish is a big fan of the Frenchman and tried to sign the player when he was in charge of Birmingham.

Wigan are resigned to losing N'Zogbia with Latics chairman Dave Whelan admitting they will not stand in his way if they receive a suitable offer.

The Frenchman is entering the final year of his contract at the DW Stadium and the player is ready to move on to play at a higher level

McLeish has identified N'Zogbia as one of his top summer transfer targets and he is keen to win the race for his signature.

The likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Sunderland have all been linked with a move for the winger, but Villa are thought to be favourites for the 25-year-old.

N'Zogbia could help fill the void left by Ashley Young's departure to Manchester United last month.

I think Man City will offer to pay the difference in contracts (or something similar) like they did with Dunne & Ireland.

Given (1st team) N'Zogbia (1st team) Hitz (backup behind Bannan & Delph) would be good additions.

Yes he will not get all of the AY money because some of it went to Watford - and he does not want to let other clubs know he has money to spend I would think

Word is that the talks with Wigan over N'Zogbia are at an advanced stage.

Which could mean anything including bluff. He said to those present at the meet and greet that he wasn't going to go blabbing how much he has to spend.

Randy will back him.

I would hope and pray that it was bullshit fed to the media, all to make clubs believe we're not rolling in it.
