i wonder why it is that teams like Stoke, Sunderland,Fulham can invest reasonable amounts on players, yet Everton who have been in the prem forever and have a big fan base, dont seem to have a shilling to spend ?

Reports that everton close to agreeing a sale to arsenal of jagielka for £15m - hope this doesn't mean a late attempt to hijack the nzogbia deal.

I'm guessing they will need a centre back.

Probably more likely they will go for Dann as replacement with the money, he's a Liverpudlian isn't he?

Dann and nzogbia could both be got for around £15m-lets hope we tie this deal up before moyes starts sniffing about ,there were reports that nzogbia had a preference to stay in the north west and was hoping everton came in .

In the Times this morning, there's a suggestion that Everton have been offered a swap deal; Bilyletdinov for McGeady. Not much to do with us, but I think McGeady may well find his way into the Premier League this summer.

Always wondered that myself.  I can only presume it's due to debt and a large portion of their income goes towards servicing that debt.

i really hope we can tie this deal up as everton seem to be stepping their interest.

The Wigan winger seems destined to leave the DW Stadium this summer and Villa have agreed a fee of around £9.5m for him.
It was assumed Alex McLeish had won the race for N'Zogbia but Everton have since been credited with an interest.
And now N'Zogbia has clarified the situation, claiming that his move to the Midlands is not complete just yet.
He told French radio station RMC Sport: "There are many rumours but my transfer to Villa is not done.

Everton to match Villa bid?
There are rumours afoot (Transfer Blog @ 13:51) that Everton will match Aston Villa's successful £9.5M bid for Charles N'Zogbia — a bid Wigan have accepted in the interests of finally getting a deal done.

OMG!

Not Transfer Blog on Twitter!!!

Also, this bit: "and now N'Zogbia has clarified the situation, claiming that his move to the Midlands is not complete just yet.
He told French radio station RMC Sport: "There are many rumours but my transfer to Villa is not done." is made to look like he's said that on hearing of the possibility of Everton, where in actual fact, he made those comments at the start of the week.

Sunderland have a richer owner than we do, Stoke also have a billionaire benefactor, and Fulham don't really spend that much, although MAF supports his managers decently.

Everton have an owner whose heart is definitely in it, but has Doug level wealth at best.

Anyone who buys them is going to be dealing with the immediate requirement for a new stadium, and a very small "natural constituency" which includes Liverpool, Man United and Man City in close proximity.

There's a reason why, when billionaire takeovers were in vogue, nobody went even within touching distance of Everton.

I think this is precisely what will happen. With money being as tight as it appears up there, I think Moyes would spend any Jagielka money on a few players rather than one winger.
