Going back a page or two, am I the only one that would be sort of OK with SWP coming in?

I don't think the Vargas thing is gonna happen, but do expect us to sign N'Zogbia, and am quite happy with the prospect of him and Marc on the wings.  But as sothers have pointed out there wouldn't be any other natural wingers at the club, so that could prove to be a problem.  If we're going to get someone in as backup, can we realistically expect a better calibre of player than SWP to come sit on our bench?  So if the financial package is sensible, I'd be OK with it.  Whether or not he'd be OK with swapping Man City's bench for ours though is another question!

What's the point in signing SWP if it is to sit on our bench, though?

As you said, he's not going to want to go anywhere he won't be starting.

Asa long as it was sgort term deal I'b de fine with SWP.  A decent player on his day and ideal as backup for either wing.  Not sure he'd see it as a good deal mind - he'd have to take a massive wage cut and be on somebody elses bench rather than City's.

20m I can live with. If we got paid in grand pianos and trombones then the Downing deal is unacceptable.

Has there been anything to prompt you including Dann, Eastie, or is it just wishful thinking?

well with cuellar going and mcleish obviously rating dann highly but saying last week hes out of our price range , now we have more money with downings sale he may be within our range.

I was thinking about the whole Given/Foster thing earlier and how it might be being delayed due to our CB issues.  McLeish's Blues side was built on the back of that strong relationship between the CBs and the keeper, so I wouldn't be surprised if he sees Foster and Dann as a double act and wants them both.  Whether it be too expensive or we have trouble dealing with that lot at the moment, I think his back-up/cheaper option is Given, who should have a similar relationship with Dunne due to their Man City and Ireland connections.

So, if Dunne is looking back to his best in training we sign Given and spend elsewhere, but if not we go for the Dann/Foster double act, which might mean less spent in other areas?

Just a thought.

I'd add Joe Cole to that list.  We're talking to Liverpool about it according to the BBC Gossip column.  A loan would be my guess.  What would people make of that?

joe cole , if we could get him back on form yes and the same goes for swp.

seems given has agreed 3 year deal and we are waiting on city agreeing his severance payment -i dont think foster is on the radar, but dann may well be.

Things are actually happening. Bids for two targets confirmed
I see nothing on the official site.

They made us play '3 Blind Mice' to learn the recorder when I was 6!

Exactly. Best not to get excited until the player has actually signed.

I would like to think that might be possible but on the other hand it seems like we might already be relying on too many players that have loss of form issues

Joe Cole & SWP are in decline, but would both have things to prove (MON type of signing  :D ).

If they both came for close to nothing & dramatically took wages cuts I wouldn't be too pissed off, aslong as they didn't get in ahead of Albrighton.
