I really want Barton.

I think it's just you & I on that train. Luckily, it's the right train. Brilliant player and would improve us.

I could maybe agree he would improve us but brilliant player?! Come on now...

All aboard the Barton train to mediocrity and ridicule. Toot toot!

OK player (and I mean OK, nowt special at all) but an absolute headcase.  He hasn't changed, of all the Blackburn players to have a go at last year he targeted Pederson.

Wouldn't mind if he had a bit of fire to his game but he's basically a coward. When he has his next inevitable meltdown, I really don't want the media reports to be prefixed with the words Aston Villa star.

It a very wrong train indeed.

I think the tide has turned in respect of Randy doing what pleases the fans,  if the manager wants Barton at villa park and he wants to come then it will happen.... Fuck what the fans think.

If Joey Barton wasn't Joey Barton we would all be happy to sign him. He's decent but not quite as good as he thinks he is.

I think we may well throw some money at transfers this summer, as it is the last major window before the new 'living within your means' rules come in to play. The new ruling has got me thinking that the club need to buy smart in the future. We may need to think business like with a few transfers and try to get players that will help build our 'global brand'. More income from foreign support and merchandising means more money as a pervenage of turnover. We have an obvious American link to our club, but has that been enough to establish us in the market across the Atlantic? Could we look to find the next superstars of the Asian nations, Japan, South Korea etc.. The suporters there tend to follow players more than teams, so finding the next Keisuke Honda or Park Ji-Sung could give us massive exposure in far east markets.

A few players that could fit this bill this summer IMO are:

Park Chu-Young from Monaco, they've just been relegated. He can play as a striker or more withdrawn as a no.10 or even on the wing.

Atsuto Uchida from Schalke, good attacking right back, young, CL experience and well established in the Japanese national team.

Michael Bradley, with the relatively cheap deal we have in place with BMG he could be an excellent signing. Not given much of a chance in the short time he was here on loan. With AMc's defensive coaching and a full pre season he could be a great anchor man and Petrov's long term replacement. Again a mainstay in the USA national team.

Landon Donovan, Mr USA has Prem experience with Everton and did really well, could be great playing just behind Bent.

I'm sure there are many more examples, but it's the principle that makes sense to me. Would like to think that we would look to expand our scouting to these markets.

Can you imagine the mass protests and riots if we were to sign Barton? :D

No, because there wouldn't be any.

What about if we re signed Gardner ?

Could we accept a fully fledged "nose" back in claret and blue ?

Barton has serious anger issues, and looks a bit unstable but compared to Ireland he wouldn't look out of place. What the hell, lets sign Bellamy as well and become the " the side everyone hates". As least we'd be noticed for once....

Why not? he's never said anything derogatory about us and if he were to re-sign surely we'd get behind anyone in C&B and give him the benefit of the doubt?

A guy that has done what he has cannot be good for team spirit though? Wenger wants him apparently.

Barton's been playing better football than pretty much every other British central midfielder all season.
