My mate just told me about a 5-live report where Kevin Phillips said that Birmingham are in real financial trouble.  A fair number of their players will have to be sold.

Being the friendly neighbours we are we could help them out by signing Foster at a nice cheap price, although I doubt we would be the only bidders.

If you want a versatile nr 10, maybe have a look at Axel Witsel ( belgian ) played a really good season this year. Or Hazard, but everyone wants him already...

I was quite keen on Diego a few years ago but his career seems to have died a bit of a death, first failing at Juve and just about staying up with Wolfsburg.

Might be going cut price.

I realise I could be shot down for this but i've just had abit of a crazy thought, we need a left back rite? What about Ridgewell? Dodgy at centre back but turned into a decent left back over the past couple of seasons, also dangerous at set pieces.

Holy cock-ups Batman, no thanks. Would rather keep Luke Young there. Or Clark. My choices would be: Enrique, Olsson, Cissokho, Izaguirre, Gibbs.

Goalkeeper Friedel snubs Villa stay to play second fiddle to Reina at Liverpool

Brad Friedel will re-join Liverpool after rejecting offers from West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa to remain in the Midlands.

The veteran keeper has agreed a two-year deal with Kenny Dalglish to be Pepe Reina's understudy.
Villa offered Friedel, 40, a deal on less money but with a greater bonus for appearances.

Rightly offered less. Abilities although improved at the end of the campaign were depleting throughout. Also mean Reina could get his move if he wants it badly enough. I would bet that Brad was at the top end of our earners.

Seems strange that, would've thought at his age being number 1 at a club would be his only aim, we need to replace him anyway in my opinion so good luck and thanks big Brad.

Fair enough. Makes sense for him to go to the place where he'll earn the most money for his final contract.

A two year deal though for a 40 year old? Not something I'd really want us to do, regardless of who it was.

He still commutes in from the North West (and has been one of our most consistent performers in recent years, makes a nonsense of GH's insistence that players need to live within pissing distance of Birmingham) so this makes sense.

A good opportunity for him (if Reina leaves) but hopefully a good opportunity for us too.

Providing we don't replace him with Rob Green.

actually i wouldn't be surprised if they cash in on Reina. Would make sense in that case.

If we do I can't see it being a long experiment. Would not be shocked to see Houllier take Kirkland on a free from Wigan to compete with whoever comes in. If it is Green, the number 2 will soon be the number 1. He is an ok keeper, but his confidence is shot watching him.

Word onGreen from ITK at WSpam is that he has a very fragile ego. Opposition players know this and give him lots of verbals which he seems to react to.

A two year contract for Friedel at 40 is daft.
