Just watched Barcelona on one of those crappy inflight screens with the sound off, absolute footballing poetry. Then i come on here and here and read we may be getting Hutton, i really don't know what to feel.

Newby here. I just wondered if anyone else felt Mr Wenger played the kids on purpose on Sunday against Manure, as he does seem to have been given a huge chunk of funds released now for him to spend? It was as though he was saying to the board, this is what is going to happen for the season.

Strange parallels with the Villa situation at Arsenal don't you think? Lose your two best players, forced to play kids, get demolished by the big boys.

welcome to our humble abode vanilla, interesting theory although i think wenger had no choice but to play that team at utd as he was rocked with injuries and suspensions-he's certainly splashing the cash today though by all accounts with his fingers in several pies.

Cheer eastie. I agree with your comment, but Wenger certainly didn't try much to stop the capitulation, and it did show how weak his squad is. Sometimes the board need to receive a jolt like that, and all the negative vibes from the outcome seem to be working.

darren bent withdrawn from england training camp-surely not another sale?

We're a jumpy lot now aren't we!?  Are you glued to SSN by any chance??

Yes, superglued!

Serious question, Eastie.

Don't you find it really, really depressing watching SSN so much?

I can stand about ten minutes of it before I want to pull my head off my shoulders.

on a serious note paulie , ive probably seen about an hour of ssn in the last fortnight but now after a long stint i have 2 days off work and with mrs east out shopping i admit i have ssn on at the moment , not half as depressing as all those bloody crappy house makeover and cookery programmes she will watch when she gets the remote.

Never depressing seeing millie, clode, kirsty gallacher or georgie thomson pouting at the screen.

The main reasons for watching SSN, I think sport is mentioned on that channel aswell???

I'll say it again, we should straight swap Ireland for Parker.

Also I think we should be in for Dann, get rid of Petrov, sign Joe Cole & drag Luke Young back!!!

How would having a bid rejected for James Milner help us?

Is Hutton that bad? Easily in Luke Young's class and a lot younger and quicker.
Not an astonishing signing by any stretch but still, not bad.

arsenal in talks with mertesacker but still linked to cahill and dann as well besides signing santos from fenerbache , old arsene seems to finally be splashing the cash and both santos and mertesacker are excellent players.

Mertasacker is really slow though....Arsenal's high defensive line will show him up against teams with pace.

Don't know much about Santos.

Hutton's okay. He's solid, robust, can tank forward. What's the point in trading him for Young? Well, he's about six years younger than Luke, so that's something. £3m is more than I was expecting, though.

Get the young Irish lad and a good midfielder in and that's alright, given the dampening-down of expectations around at the mo.

Strange but with just three top additions we could challenge for that fourth spot, i can understand and sympathise with the need to cut the wage bill but surely there has been enough reductions for us to be able to get decent players in. If the gate takings drop away we will lose anyway.

Don't forget McLeish got the best out of Hutton in a few Scotland games which probably got him his move to Spurs.

For 3m don't think it's that bad a move. Only 26 and a manager who's got the best out of him before. Also it says a lot for how both clubs have been run that apparently at Spurs he's on less than what Luke Young was getting here!

Defence dosen't really concern me. We're very light in central midfield so I can't believe we won't get someone in before the deadline.
