I think we should definitely be looking to Chelsea for a loan with option to buy for one of Sturridge or Kalou. Chelsea now have Torres, Drogba, Lukaku, Anelka, Sturridge, Kalou, Mata and maybe even Modric for their attacking options, someone will have to make way from that list. Especially when you consider AVB played with a very settled front line at Porto, Falcao and Hulk played virtually every game on the way to winning 3 trophies! Sturridge or Kalou would do nicely in a front three with Gabby and Bent.
Knowing our luck they will offer Torres, who used to be a footballer.

Benayoun tweeted he's in talks with other clubs- would do a good job here.

If we don't strengthen significantly over the next couple of days, I can see two things happening. 1. We'll spend most of the next few months in the bottom six. 2. Darren Bent will leave in January (I think this will happen anyway)

Not exactly sure where he'd play to be honest, but he's a decent player.

Benayoun, hutton and hargreaves(if fit) would certainly add some quality and creativity to the squad.

Aston Villa are the latest Premier League club offering free agent Owen Hargreaves a career lifeline.

Former England midfielder Hargreaves, 30, is searching for a new club having been released by Manchester United after an injury nightmare.

But the star insists he is over his knee problems and has contract offers from West Brom and Championship Leicester.

Now Villa boss Alex McLeish has emerged as a contender for Hargreaves' signature.
McLeish is trying to wheel and deal before the transfer window shuts as he has limited resources.

Right-back Luke Young, on £40,000-a-week, has gone to QPR with Tottenham's Alan Hutton in line to replace him.

McLeish is also trying to move on flop Jean Makoun to bring in a new midfielder with Hargreaves now a target as Scott Parker is off to Spurs.

A Villa source said: "A few things could happen before the window shuts."

Mirrorsport revealed last week Villa have given agents mandates to move on Young, Habib Beye, Makoun, Shane Lowry and Carlos Cuellar.

I have a feeling we're in for Benayoun, there'd be plenty of competition though.

Hutton, Hargreaves and Benayoun would be about as good as we could get, although I would still be very concerned about defensive midfield, unless Clark plays there.

If he is over his fitness issues (and that is a 20st gorilla of an if) then Hargreaves would be a quite wonderful signing.

I also quite like Benayoun as a player though he may set his sights a little higher than us.

Think he must be on for Spurs in part of any deal for little Vampire child.

I have a feeling we cant afford the £5m+ fee for Yossi and his £60,000+pw wages

things are certainly going to hot up in the next 72 hours. It's not the best way of doing business, but it's the way it is which for those people who wanted deadline day action then this should be heaven. I think we'll be in for 2-3 players at least now as opposed to the one we thought we might get. We need a solid central midfielder and right back, and I'd go for a winger to take some of the heat of Albrighton who is struggling a little right now. A cheeky Scott Dann signing would top things off nicely.

Agreed. For all the chest beating by Levy, Modric will get his move. I admire his defiant stance, but had he sold him a month ago, Redknapp could have invested the money in a timely manner. Benayoun is a good player and someone we could do with, but he won't leave London if Spurs want him. I've always said Spurs need more midfielders.

Benayoun wouldn't come here. Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked.

Hutton and Hargreaves would do me. Infact I'd be very happy with that. Hopefully Makoun stays though.

I'm sure we'll be raiding Barnet for a couple of players.
