You must know Loughbrough Junction/cold harbour lane, SR?

this was painted windows there for years - my train used to go past it each morning

That picture does ring a few bells in my memory.

Weird.
Violence is violence whoever the perpetrator is.

That's right, there are never - ever - EVER - any circumstances under which death is not an appropriate penalty for a man who touches a woman.

violence between men is natural and if you dont admit to ever having enjoyed a punch up then that seems weird to me.

Wasn't the song originally sung in the 60s/70s about a criminal who had shot police? Fictionalised in the Jake Arnott novel "He Kills Coppers".

Sounds plausible.

The Harry Roberts song. Used to hear it down the Villa as well until around the early 90s. Not especially pleasant either, no matter how unreasonable the WMP were back then, before they sensibly decided to take a lower profile at most games.
They still sing Harry Roberts at Newcastle. In fact there was something in the papers recently about it because the muppets have just changed the words to refer to Raul Moat. Not surprisingly the family of the now blind PC have taken offence.

I've not had a 'a bit of a punch up' since I was about seven years old.

I thought that was pretty normal for most people.

Whenever I hear even a minority of our support singing about this woman it makes me want
to walk away -

Gallows humour such as 'let's pretend we've scored a goal' is one thing but to glorify in someone's death
is out of order -
