Also now led to believe that Bent deal will be £24m straight cash deal NOT an £18m plus add-ons. All to be paid in installments. #AVFC

Is it ? Won't it be loaned to AVFC ?

And if it were, who owns AVFC? And how easy would AVFC be for the owner to sell, with loans like that to repay?

OK, wasn't on here yesterday so apologies if my below musings are respeating points already made.

I'm very happy about this (potential!) signing.  Good player that will improve us and shows Randy is still 100% committed financially.  I probably don't think he's quite as good as some do, but his PL goals record speaks for itself and he fits well into the 1 upfront Gezza favours.

It's been often mentioned that striker was the one position MON never got right after the signing of Carew, so the fact Gezza has gone straight after the best realistic domestic signing is a major tick in his plus column for me!

I haven't a clue how this works but aren't there 5 subsiduaries of Aston Villa? Spread the loan around and it makes it look more appealing to any future buyer.

Perhaps the £24M is just the spin Sunderland and the press are putting on it to cover up for the fact they have had to sell and the fact they got the Randy "money problems" all wrong.

I'll bet we only have to pay £24M if we win the Champions League and Bent wins the Eurovision Song Contest.

Has David Craig surfaced today on SSN to play everything down and try and talk the fee up ?
They had Craig David on talking about his favourite ice cream flavour, he then gave his opinion on Darren Bent saying it would be tied up in 'seven days.'
