The sacred colours around the world
« on: January 16, 2011, 12:18:52 AM »
PART ONE: LUCCA - ITALY

I thought it'd be interesting to open a thread where we can post some nice pics of us proudly wearing the  Villa colours around the world.
I begin with this photo of me and my daughter Caterina Olivia in the Piazza Anfiteatro  of Lucca, one of the most beautiful Italian medieval cities.

Odd enough, in Lucca there is a street called Via del Calcio, that means Football street, it's a street where in the Middle Age people  played with the ball, the ancestor of modern football. . .

I don't have any pics of me wearing claret and blue around the world, but one thing I will say is that you're right, Archie, Lucca really is a beautiful place.

Great Pictures Archie.  Lucca is a wonderful city - Giacomo Puccini's birthplace. How could it not be?

Here is a picture of my and my mates in Villa colours at the races in Vancouver.  We managed to find a group of young ladies who were very impressed...

I have no idea how to post pictures. Is this right? Will it show on the thread like above??

Did they respect you guys in the morning?

I've been to Lucca several times had a few meals and beers at the cafe in your picture.

ASCOLI PICENO - ITALY

This is  Piazza del Popolo in Ascoli Piceno, one of my favourite Italian medieval cities.
The XIV Century is the golden century of Ascoli, whose center is built in a awhite marble called "travertino", and that boasts a lot of ancient towers (there were more than 200 in the Middle Age), churches, squares and mansions.

CASTEL DEL MONTE - ITALY

Castel del Monte, in the southern region of Apulia, is a site protected by Unesco as world heritage of the humanity.
Built by Roman Emperor Federico II in the 13th century, with its  structure  on an octagonal plan and its  eight towers, one in each corner (http://www.lifeinitaly.com/tourism/puglia/castel-del-monte).
