Tranmere at Villa Park - Coca Cola League Cup Semi Final, February 1994... I loved that game, still gives me the shakes.

Me too, I'm still shaking

FA Cup 4th Round away at Derby. Got the train from New Street for the evening kick-off, at the old Baseball ground.

Won 4-3, Shilton in goal (Tiiiina), Dwight missing 2 pens, Kubicki sent off. Fabulous entertainment.

Old buggars will probably say the United L.C. semi second leg at VP. December 23, 1970.

I do.

Tranmere without any doubt.  Best atmosphere I've ever experienced at VP as well.

The most exciting game I've seen is the Tranmere second leg, but this thread is for one you've been to. I'll set up another one.

Tranmere 2nd leg.

I might be wrong, but I'd maintain that without standing we'll never replicate the atmosphere of that afternoon, regardless of what happens on the pitch.

I'll go for an unusual one.

It was a 3-3 draw at home to Manchester United during 1986-87, the last season that we were relegated. We seemingly were dead and buried at 3-1 down, yet despite this came back. Allan Evans equalised late on with a penalty at the Holte End.

Chris was that the same season we drew 3-3 at Anfield as well ?

Would probably have to be the 4-4 at spurs a few seasons back.

Beating The Baggies 4-3 on the first day of the '83-'84 season and the 3-2 win at Highbury in our first away game after promotion in '88. We had some great away days under BFR too - Sheff Wed 3-2, Derby 4-3 in the cup under the lights at the old Baseball Ground and giving Spurs a two goal lead then beating then 5-2.

The final at Wembley against Utd in '94 was a great game, but, the semi-final 2nd leg against Tranmere was something else. Definitely the most exciting match I've been to. The Inter game a few months later wasn't bad either. Big Ron treated us to a few special occasions,  that's for sure.

Tranmere at Villa Park for me too. I honestly thought if my heart was going to pack up at any time it would be during that match.
Just magnificent.

Now you mention it, I'm sure it was. Just after Billy McNeill had taken over as manager, IIRC.
