I wanted Martin Jol when MON dropped us in it.  Good manager and looks like we missed the boat for some reason

I'm going with rofl.

I swear Ashley does all this just so Jim Whyte and the SSN cameras will turn up at the ground, and then film some cheap SportsDirect hoarding in the background whilst detailing the latest car crash unfolding at the club, surrounded by jobless Geordie stereotypes.

Nicely done, I only bet on it when it went odds on, so I may have jinxed it.

I couldn't believe they would appoint Pardew despite the betfair forums saying so.

Right, now go out and put everything on them being relegated.

From the BBC:

"It is believed Pardew became close friends with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and director Derek Llambias when all three were familiar faces at an exclusive London casino where Llambias was managing director."

What a fantastic reason to make that appointment. There can be few bigger walking disasters than Ashley, even among football chairmen, and that really is saying something.

Completely and utterly unrelated to Aston Villa in any way whatsoever; What now for Martin Jol?
