He said: “In terms of the financial disparity they are still light-years ahead of us. Whether there is a massive disparity in terms of technical ability, you would have to question that because of the way we played against them last time.”

He must be referring to Stephen Carr.

His 'technical ability' amounted to a V sign to us.

'Financial disparity' is at least some small way of crediting our superiority I guess.

Sit down ... ...... ...

So, the way he does it "does not deviate too much from the likes of Gérard or ... [Ferguson]." Apart from his present 'club' been going 135 years and STILL won fuck all, that is.

“I remember Gérard saying, in the week I was there, that ‘you are always anxious and worried about the outcome of a game, but you are less anxious and worried about the outcome if you know that you have a good team.’ That is the key — getting players on the pitch that you trust.”

Surely this is the most important quote from the article. This tells us the essential facet of Houllier's approach, and why he is spending so much time in assessing the players he has taken on. The key words are: "players...that you trust".

They managed 0 goals in both fixtures last year, and yet they still believe they played like some kind of blue Brazil.
