Bizarre if true. I expected him to wait for the Barcodes/Liverpool jobs.

Just been confirmed by Northern Irish news that O'Neill is off to manage in Saudi Arabia, he has agreed a 2 year contract worth £4-£5m, but has to speak to Villa to sort out contract issues.

I sincerely hope Villa don't pay that tossser a single penny.

Aye, has been reported in a few papers in the past few days but nobody has picked up on it. I never thought twice about it until a very credible news source here today confirmed it is happening.

work with the likes of Lee Young-Pyo, who previously played in the Premier League for Tottenham, and Brazilian international Thiago Neves.

Don't know him very well do they? Wonder if he will only sign Saudi nationals?

He did say that his philosophy when working in any country would be to sign national players. :@

Considering his phobia of signing players during the summer, maybe the owners just think it's a good way of saving themselves a few quid.

I thought that the way the knives are out for Houghton up at Newcastle, it was all being set up for MON to take over. He'd do a good job there for a couple of seasons if he did go.

He may well be considered damaged goods after his last 18 months at VP though. It was obvious that his limitations had been exposed and that getting a team to 6th in the Premiership is probably as good as he can do.

And they thought living in Saudi Arabia was as boring as life could get.

Just wait till Martin rocks up with Bibs and Cones and their turgid guff.

Hard to fathom this if it's true.  It's either a money-grabbing swansong or the mother of all sulks.

If the rumour proves to be true there will be a little irony in the fact that MON complained about Milner leaving for the money being offered by Sheikh Mansour.

In reality few people being offered 4-5M would turn down an offer if they were looking for a job.

The bit that said that MON would have to refer back to Aston Villa re contractual issues is interesting. Does this mean that Villa are still paying MON? Would MON's signing for the Saudi club mean that if Villa are still paying MON, Villa would be relieved of having to make any further payments? If that were the case my vote is for MON to start with the Saudi's straight away!

Would this mean that in future we should address MON as Sheikh Martin Hugh Michael bin O'Neill  or simply Sheikhy MON ?

All joking aside, I still respect what MON accomplished at Villa Park and wish him well. At the same time I am also very happy that we now have  Gerard Houllier to help us move to the next level.
