Sid basically taking about Houllier's methods:
- meeting every morning for the coaching staff - instructed to do something different every day, a lot new to the players but one of the main objectives is retaining possession - he used the phrase "total football"
- meeting with the players before they leave the hotel before each game, to discuss tactics etc (not earth shattering maybe, but the implications was that the tactics might differ according to opposition!)
Also talked a bit about 81/82, said it was great that the famous commentary was up on the North Stand and said that was clever of Lerner (although isn't that down to one of the regular posters on here?)
Said MON was also fantastic in that the first question he asked when he arrived was "where's the picture of the 82 EC winners?" Had a dig at Ellis for not allowing the same during his tenure at the club.
Favourable comment from the Monday night panel after the interview as well, including McGarry, the bellend (who was on shortly after MON resigned and basically said we were sunk without him, also started that totally bulls**t rumour about Friedel going to Fulham). Said Houllier's English was better than some English managers, that's why he had been able to hit the ground running.
