i guess we'll find out this January if GH can wheel and deal or if he's another MON. Hold onto your hats, it could be a bumpy ride

SSN reporting we have increased offer to 3.5 million for Adam!

Would be great if we could get him for blues Sunday!

Hypothetically.

7 million on Makoun
4 on Adam

Walker loan

Collins and Warnock out for Samba

Safari (left back linked) 1-2 million

Loan striker say Keane/ Owen/ Santa Cruz type stop gap till the summer.

Total spend around 13-14 million, with the side looking vastly different and a decent influx of players. A bit of creativity has been needed in the market for over 2 seasons, maybe we can get something workable that will push us up the league without spending a fortune and still cutting the wage bill back.

Not necessarily, buying from abroad will be a cheaper market. It'll only be £10m+ for someone from over here, a Carlton Cole type. How much did Chicharito and Rodagella cost for example? Or Yakubu when he went to Pompey? Chamakh was on a free but he wasn't being touted for much the Summer before.

If we loan a striker then maybe, but I'd be concerned about a Rodaellga type signing as we need a virtually immediate impact and can't afford anytime for settling in.

What happened to the good old days when potential signings were spotted at the ground or someone knew someone who knew someone who was an estate agent who was selling a house to a player. Back in the late eighties/early nineties, by my reckoning Steve Bull and Carlton Palmer used to visit Villa Park at least once a month and that lucky estate agent managed to sell six houses in Sutton Coldfield to Paul Ince!

Matt Kendrick is a joke. Do not think he has any idea about tansfer information than most of the die hard fans on this site. Still hope Cisse or Traore are being talked to. Adam is a no go. They are expecting 5-7m and that is unrealistic for a non proven premiere player of limited experience .......

He's not a joke. I dont like his paper and I had him confused with somebody else once but I was wrong.
He's alright and he does get genuine info. I have that on fairly good authority.

Backing him is one thing, attracting quality players to a club in the relegation zone with a manager and coach who command little / no respect from players is another thing

I'm sure the optimism and fighting spirit displayed by our supporters will more than make up for any other concerns.

My main concern when GH was appointed was the lack of warmth or respect towards him when you read quotes from his former players. McAllister should command respect for his playing career but if the players don't rate his coaching then we have a problem. Also, with Kevin Macdonald being popular during his spell in charge you could have some players still pining for MON, others wishing Macdonald had got the job and the ones 100% behind GH probably the ones that couldn't get a game under either! If we do have this kind of problem, it's not going to start getting sorted properly until the summer.

So what has he told us today, or even since the transfer window has been open that we do not already know ?? Except that he was going to talkto GH at 11am and who was not even there .....

I am friends with Tom Ross on facebook so I'm privvy to all the inner workings at VP like Tom is, apparently we are quite interested in someone who plays for Blackpool and he's just left to go to West Ham, although I'm not sure whether that is Tom or the Blackpool player.

Some reporters have a scattergun approach to stories, writing a dozen 'exclusives' in the hope they get one right. Others only comment when they have a fair degree of certainty.

Matt Kendrick seems like a decent un - he reports back well about what the manager is saying at meetings with the press and writes about the Villa well and objectively.

That could also be used describe some manager's transfer philosophies......

He told us that the Makoun deal is looking favourable, that there is money to spend and that we'll spend more than £10m. That is to say, not less than. That its 70% likely we'll have a player or players in by Sunday.
That we're after a striker and that M'Bokani is perhaps not the first choice target. That Houllier is as passionate if not as animated as the previous manager... amongst other stuff. Thats the Barton link is bullshit... That's just what I can recall right now.
Most of it sepcific and not ambiguous like most bullshitters. Believe it or not, it's no skin off my nose but I think he's genuine and I've been told something along those lines by people I do know to be on the level.

Are Blackpool at home to Liverpool tomorrow?

If so, any Adam deal would probably wait till after that so he could have a farewell victory!
