I don't like Barton but I wouldn't give up Villa because of him.

McNeill, O'Leary and Ellis couldn't keep me away, so neither would he.

Barton is a horrible bloke, but I agree with TV that we totally lack that streak of nastiness through the side that we could do with in the battle ahead. Barton won't win us any friends, but he might help to win us games. His record with youth players is sketchy though, especially with cigars and christmas time! Like Mark, I would not be happy about the bloke, but watching the player would not stop me going to the games.

Sounds like a none story anyway. If he doesn't want to leave and they don't want him to leave then it doesn't matter if we're interested. Personally i reckon NRC has already got his next move lined up this summer.

Which probably happened at the expense of Hordak, I'm not sure.

Same here. I'd be bitterly disappointed if Villa were to sign Barton but I'd still go to the games.

I'd much rather Villa try to sign Charlie Adam

I can't see Barton coming here, the Newcastle supporters seem to love him and he seems (for him) fairly settled.

Agree with UK Redsox above, Charlie Adam might be worth a punt.
The Mirror reckon the Blues are after him and had a £2m bid rejected.

I've advocated for a long time that Villa need a 'orrible bastard on the pitch (a Savage or Keane type).

However, the key part is "on the pitch". Barton appears to be an all round nasty piece of work off the pitch and not the type of person we want associated with Villa.

What is the appeal about this Charlie Adam? From the (admittedly little) I have seen of him he just reminds me of Steve Davis.

I quite like him and he seems to attract the ball a lot which seems strange but allows him to set up the attack much of the time from what I have seen of him at Blackpool.

too many experienced players seem to be working on their next move it seems to me...

they should get down to recovering the position we find ourselves in but that seems to be the way things go these days..

get in to trouble and make a packet by moving out.....reminds me of Bankers etc

well he was totally frozen out by the last manager and we haven't offered him a new contract so i'm not that surprised he's not exactly pulling up trees for us. He's certainly not going to move on just so we can sign Barton
