Who was the left winger he signed at Liverpool who played about 4 times in 4 years  -Bernard something? Demede? Sure he looked a bit like Sagna at Arsenal and was on big money but was just woeful.

In Jan I reckon we might see a couple of loans and a couple of engineered swap deals but the major surgery will come next summer.

His horse did. He was just the little berk weighing it down a bit.
Should have given it to the horse(s). Ridiculous award.

In the same way that a Formula 1 driver is just weighing the car down.

No not at all. A Formula one car is not an animal with a mind and will of its own.
It cannot win on its own. It is completely dependent on the skill of the driver. It is "equpiment".

Sorry, even though I was being deliberately flippent and mishceivous, I'm not having it. When you have the world's best spin bowler, a champion multi-discipline athlete, a world heavyweight boxing champion amongst others as competition, I cant believe they gave it to a glorified horse ornament.
Just my opinion. Nobody has to agree with it.

Well I don't agree with you. Wasn't it voted for by the public?

Birmingham will bid £6m to pinch Tottenham forward Robbie Keane from under the noses of neighbours Aston Villa.

Be our guests Dogshitters.
Sadly not true, as there are no funds available for The Dog shit* in January, which is why they've got a Yank striker there on trial.

*Why does the word filter change Dog Shit to Blues?
Are we supposed to be nice to them or something?

it was voted for by the public, so it wasn't given to McCoy by the bbc, and he polled 40% of the vote, which is massive in a 10 horse race (get it) so maz your opinion is very much in the minority this time, and phil the power taylor came second

Aston Villa are keen on Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton.

This particular part of Aston Villa isn't keen on him at all.

Havent we enough baggage with Ireland, if we sign him I will not renew my season ticket. Perhaps they could share a car to the Priory?

I'd rather us get Warren Barton out of retirement.

Barton is a good player who would improve us.

But he is on £80k a week, he isn't going nowhere, the same reason they all stayed there when they were relegated.

How good was Houllier's transfer record at Liverpool (and for the John Blackwell usurpers out there, at Lyon)? I remember a lot of third-rate shite - Titi Camara, Eric Meijer, Diao, Diouf, Biscan etc. Did he buy Nick Barmby aswell? He wasn't so bad but I don't remember there being that many unqualified successes.

Not ever imagining I could usurp the Blackwell....but it seems that Houllier signed amongst others:

John Carew
Fred
Thiago
Nilmar (on loan)
Jeremy Toulalon
Alou Diarra
Kim Kallstrom
Sébastien Squillaci
and Milan Baros...

He also gave Loic Remy his break through as a 19 year old. Looking at the lists of ins and outs, it's clear to see that he a) likes to mark his own stamp on a club and b) likes to promote from the youth team! Both fairly promising signs for the future. Plus he seems to have a liking for Defensive Midfielders and Strikers!!

Thanks for that. Hmm, I must say that does restore my confidence somewhat. Some really quality players there - would be even more impressed if they actually improved at Lyon (which I honestly don't know). Kallstrom was the golden boy for the Champ manager generation but did he pull up any trees after leaving Sweden?

I'd be interested to know what he paid for those players. We kind of know Baros, but what about the rest? It would give us insight into his ability to spot talented players for a decent price. I know there are a few dodgy signings from late in his Liverpool reign, especially during his illness, but he still managed to bring them silverware, which is all I want at Villa.
