The BBC gossip column is reporting that Villa (and others) are after Palace right back Clyne and Eng U21 keeper Jason Steele.  Unfortunately - as I think they're both good prospects - this is from the Mirror.

A young prospect we do not appear to be linked with is Connor Wickham.  I'd like to see us do a deal here maybe sending The Fonz there on loan as part of the deal.  I understand that he is a lanky but skillful striker so could be the long term replacement for Heskey/Carew.
Don't we have the U19 Swiss goalie? Isn't he supposed to be something special?

I would think Shay Given would seem the obvious choice if available.

I don't think Shay Given is going to be too easy to get with the demand around the league.

Our position on the table makes it difficult to attract the better players.

This makes me want to cry.

The players we have are capable of better though. Its not that much of a difference in personel that got close to winning two trophies last year.

A few weeks ago the thought of buying Wheater for 2m seemed unecessary but now it seems very realistic .....

I would seriously consider getting Curtis Davies back and playing him with Cuellar.

Collins needs to be dropped & Dunne needs to be put down.

West Ham are among the January suitors for Aston Villa striker John Carew, who they see as a replacement for Carlton Cole. The Hammers are willing to listen to offers for Cole.

Carew will fit in nicely with Benni McCarthy

Maybe we should consider a move for Lescott or Wayne Bridge. At the moment both would be a better left back option than Warnock.

In other news Pigs have started to fly  ;)

Not the £30 mill part, as Randy has always been forthcoming with funds,

Cannot see the players quoted wanting to join a team in real trouble.
