Give Friedel another year, sign McGregor and send Guzan out on loan for a year.

Surely McGregor will be protected by usually having a 10 man defence in front of him?

Even in league 1 or 2 the strikers occasionally catch the ball sweetly, so the Scottish league can't be much different.  I think goalkeeping is the only position you can pick up a player from a poorer quality league and it not make much difference what they're playing against.

I like McGregor too.

It's a name that would fit in well at Villa.

i wouldnt agree with that..

the regularity of that "sweet striker" is the difference...

it can happen occasionally in the likes of league one and two, even less for old firm keepers because the rest of the scottish league is very poor quality (even the old firm are made up of players not good enough for the prem, or championship fodder, and either get battered or play 10 man and the bus behind the ball anti football)...

so the regularity of someone like mcgregor facing quality finishing, attacking play, etc, is far less in scotland, than it would be in the english premier league...

Considering the money in the EPL the old firm give a good account of themselves against the EPL.

they manage to raise their games because its like their cup final... or they park the bus...

scottish football is not of a high standard, and for me, i dont think we should be touching any of their players again, with a bargepole...

We've been linked with Jean Makoun from Lyon.

Apparently he wants to leave Lyon and he has the same agent as Gerrard Houllier.

Adam Johnson has been linked with a move away from Man City and we could do a lot worse. Could be a replacement for Young.
