Lukaku looks quite useful. I'd be shocked if none of Europe's top clubs aren't in for him, especially Chelsea

Read from somewhere, they are.

And oh...in August, Spuds have a £17.5 million bid rejected.

two players who are playing fro PSV at the moment would be just the ticket for me, Ibrahim Afellay is a midfielder, strong, clever, good vision, like a younger version of Petrov but with legs, I would break the bank for the lad.

IF and i say IF as I don't think that anyone would like to see him go, but IF Ashley Young goes then PSV have a ready made replacement in Balázs Dzsudzsák who I've seen tear into defences in European games over the past couple of seasons, he plays ont he left side of a front three.

I reckon Afellay would be around 10-12 mill and about half of that would get Dzsudzsak.

I'd hope with Houllier's networking and contacts that both would be on his radar

I'd hope though that Houllier's contacts would know that his contract is up in the summer and would be available for free (winky emoticon)

The playing of Clark in midfield showed just how badly we need a "quarterback" style midfielder, because now Petrov and Delph are injured we've got nobody with any real ideas in deep midfield. This is a fundamental truth about creativity - that talent and technique are not enough, and you need the brain to go with it, to think a few steps ahead and so on. Veron is perfect at this - you see him play three or four successive short passes, moving cleverly and drawing the opposition to where he wants them, before hitting a 40-yarder out to the winger in space. We don't have anybody with that sort of football brain, and it badly showed against Blues.

I always thought he was more of a winger, although that was mainly based on his appearances for Holland in the WC.

As stated above I think his contract is up this summer too, so he will be available Jan as I'm sure PSV would prefer some fee for him.

Charlie Adam in January would be dirt cheap an not expect high wages, he plays the quarter back style people are talking about.

One thing I would say about Charlie Adam is that whilst he's undoubtedly been great for Blackpool that is because their team is built around him. He didn't have this when he was at Rangers and as such he wasn't that good for them. Though he did have one season when he scored loads of free-kicks with that magic wand of a left foot.

He's improved a lot for me but we've seen how players who look great for unheralded promoted sides cope when they don't have a team built around them in our own Sidwell.

However, if we can get him on a pre-contract and a reasonably small wage (I don't think he'll get more than £10K at Blackpool) he might be a good option.

Witsel and Defour. Plus add a Top young french striker from Houlliers contact list and we will be in a good position with Gary Gardener and Delph to be back ups over the end of the season .............

From the Current Bun -

Quote
GERARD HOULLIER admits you would have to be blind not to see that Aston Villa must sign new players in January.
But the Villa boss says the new buys may not include a striker - despite his side failing to score in 344 minutes of league action.
He said: "If we spot a good international player who can add something, we'll take him.
"We need to bring some players in and will have one or two coming in January. Will it be up front? Not necessarily.
"I don't like January windows but you need to be blind not to see there are areas where we're not blessed with numbers."

Rumour this morning, Paul Faulkner is flying to America to discuss transfers and contract extensions for Friedel and NrC.

Same story says we want to sell Sidwell and cares in jan so they don't go on a free.

Stoke want Davies for cut price £3million

Roque Santa Cruz is Houllier first choice.

All good just hope last part isn't true, rsc is too injury prone.

RSC has had a couple of injuries, but I'm sure a loan until the end of the season with an option to buy could suit us, as long as we bring in another striker.

Stoke can have Davies. £3m doesn't seem a lot but he's hardly played and I'm not sure if he's going to get near the team with Dunne, Collins, Cuellar & Clark.

Bye Sidwell & Carew. Need a hand packing?

That all makes sense and I'd be happy with it - except the RSC bit!
