General

Thank you for the reply.  Your response to the question about the manager appointing scouts was interesting.  Is this an area where you think that Mr Houllier will bring immediate improvements?

General.

You managed to speak to Nicola Keye yet regarding being able to purchase tickets for the cup game as I asked in my previous question?

General Krulak here:

1.  Risso:  Yes, I think that GH will show a real talent in seeking and finding good players and in putting together an effective scouting network.  I do know that his first days at Bodymoor Heath have been very good ones and very positive with all the folks who work out there.  He is going to make a difference.

2.  PaulMcgrath:  Awaiting the answer...I did not forget!  I am old and have to write things down but....I will get it.

Hi General,

I hope you are well.

Now that we have our manager and he has been released by the French FA. Can you confirm that he has indeed signed a contract with us yet? Or if not will that happen very shorty?

Many thanks

Hi General,

I dont want to harp on about the kit problems...suffice to say the kit supply issues are disappointing for both the fans and the club. What I would like to add however, is that a lot of fans are also disappointed with the actual design of the kit itself for numerous reasons (including old Nike template, collars, claret socks, chequered pattern, etc)...so my first question is simply, who is responsible for the decisions over kit design?

Secondly, did you get the chance to view the mockup designs posted by sewiek? They received some very good feedback on here as you can read for yourself here: New Kit 2010 / 11 ?

I would like to get your honest opinion as a fan on what you think of these designs, and what are the chances of them being considered in the future?

I'm not too fussed about the current kit being delayed as I dont like the design and will be buying other Villa merchandise instead, but if this design was available then I'd probably buy all 3 designs.

Thanks General. UTV!!!

My apologies to sewiek if this has been already put forward or was not intended to be.

I was going to point out a couple of issues that would negate this kind of idea. The first being that we still have another season to run with Nike. However, I dare say that negotiations would be underway soon for the 2012/13 kit so I why not bring up the option of Villa's own design at this stage?

Which brings me to the second point: I'd have thought that kit manufacturers would have their own 'look' for that particular season. A vintage, if you will, for that season that stands out as a 'Nike design' or an 'Adidas design'. But, given that Villa are currently using an old (2 seasons?) FC Lens template, manufacturers (or at least Nike in this case) don't seem that bothered whether they use a current design-family or not.

So, General, given Villa's proud trail-blazing history, would the board be open to letting the fans decide which kit they want? You could get someone like Stewart (sewiak) to design 3 different choices for home, away and 3rd kit and open it up for a vote on the OS. You have to admit that a 'supporter designed' kit would be drawn up from the heart with one eye on history and the other on what Villa fans would want to see. That's the kind of passion that a manufacturer like Nike simply won't have. And as you can see, us Villa fans are also lucky enough to have a designer to back up this local knowledge with some talent!

The downside, of course, is that the tops (if the above designs are anything to go by) would be such a rip-roaring success (both from a financial point of view and a marketing one), you'd have one hell of a time trying to improve on it for the next season!

Still, I'd certainly love to see Villa come up with yet another 'first'.

General,

Thanks for the reply. Do you not think that we are setting ourselves up for upheaval such as that we have seen by allowing the manager to appoint so many important positions? If he leaves us - as he will eventually (albeit not in the way of the previous manager) - what provisions have we put in place to ensure that we do not lose a whole army of staff also?

all 3 of those shirts are very nice indeed...

maybe lose the collar, and have a contrasting colour trim on a v-neck, and all 3 are absolute winners...

Those kit designs are about 100% better than the rubbish Nike have slapped together this season.

Those kits look good but I would want one without a radioactive glow.
