 Adam Aspinall, Sunday Mercury

I wonder why he write that a piece of comic material. Randy Lerner and The General won't appoint him. It is like a casino appointing Paul Merson to run the bar and casino.

This story is running though. Monday's Italian Sports paper's headlines

L'agente di Maradona:                                 The agent of Maradona
Vuole allenare l'Aston Villa                            He wants to coach Aston Villa

Corriere dello sport

Maradona vuole l'Aston Villa                         Maradona wants Aston Villa
L'agente: "Desidera l'Inghilterra"                 The agent "He desires England"

La Gazetta dello Sport

Even the serious paers are covering the story - gaining momentum?

It can gain all the momentum it likes in the crap media. I doubt it will have any credence inside VP where it counts.

Randy's laughing at that. He's a businessman, not a ringmaster.

The good thing about it is that at least a non-Italian  managed English club is getting some Italian coverage, and its the Villa.

Maradona would much prefer to manage Napoli ,where he is worshipped, but for his problems with the Italian tax authorities. Ranieri has found his true home with Roma and I can't imagine he'd want to leave although Ancelotti still wants to manage Roma one day.

The managers that never want to leave usually end up getting sacked, unfortunately.

If he applies, I think Randy will just give him the phone number for that bunch of clowns in Small Heath.  Not that they will have paid the phonebill, of course!

Just seen Big Ron give a proper big belly laugh when asked about the chances of Maradona rocking up at VP. He though why not give KMAc a go.
Wonder if Big Ron would make a decent D.O.F?

There's no effing way Maradona will be anywhere near the manager's office, but it's more than useful for Villa to be linked with big names in the Italian press with Lerner in Milan. If it persuades Huntelaar or Flamini that we're a bigger side than they first thought, that will be scorchio.

It's even made the news over here in Oz. I've had a couple of people in the local come up to me (I was wearing my swanky new AVFC training jacket) and ask me about it.

I think it would go tits up big style, but you got to admit it could be quite fun too.

To be honest I don't think it would be fun.  Appointing an idiot like that would make us a laughing stock anyway, but with his profle we'd become a worldwide laughing stock!

I was about to post something similar, having just read the story on Tuttosport and the local sports dailies here. El Pibe has done us a favour as the story and vacancy appears to have gone global. Also calling us a 'big/great club' will do us no harm.

I think we should be thanking and showing a bit more respect to the coke toking, short arsed, fat, little fucker.

Yep, you've got to hand it to him.
