I was looking for the Mita Copiers shirt 91/92 season about 8 or 9 years ago on EBAY.Got one from a bloke in scotland...on opening the package i noticed the crest was embrioded ...i taught Hey it's my lucky day..turned round the back to reveal a stitched Umbro no. 5 with the small football league tags..i had won the lotto.A mcgrath original.Has since being signed on the back and placed in a frame with a signed programme [v man city 7 dec 1991..the cover of the programme was of GOD himself]   and takes pride of place in the house...and it cost less then a tenner on EBAY.I guess the seller had'nt a clue about legends.

I remember being mightily impressed by the 92-93 lace up shirt. It looks bloody dreadful now.

I remember getting the 81-82 away shirt to go to the final in when i heard we'd lost the toss for kit. The short lived yellow top with the badge in the design that was used for the end of the '91-'92 season reminds me of the quarter final at Liverpool. First time the team wore it (actually, it might have been the last time too) and there were five of us in the car on the way up wearing it.

I went to Glastonbury in 2002 and on the Sunday made my way to the nearest village to watch the World Cup Final. In the first pub I went into, there was a guy wearing the 1994 green Muller top. I went up to him and asked him if he was a Villa fan and he said "no, I just liked the colours".

So that horrible shirt reminds me of Glastonbury.

I loved the yellow shirt we wore at Anfield in 92-93, we only wore it twice I believe but it was a beauty (I went through a phase of buying Villa shirts and the odd European ones, it's no wonder I am skint now).

The yellow shirt  we wore in a cup game at Crystal Palace, no idea when but Bruce Rioch was playing and I think we were second or third division and they were in a division/s above.  0-0 draw and we won the replay.

A time when the woman I was with at the time was trying to convert me to supporting my then (and still) local team, Palace.  She had no idea, went shortly afterwards.

Yellow one (2 down 5 across) reminds me of The Sty in 1970, it was about Easter time and we hadn't won away all season and were on our way down to Div3.
I was only young but can still clearly remember the yellow kit and Bruce Rioch scoring with one of his trademark left foot rocket shots. Other things I recall is being with a gang of older lads from our street - it was the last derby before crowd segregation came in and you just paid at any turnstile and went in. We ended up in the top corner of the Kop next to the Tilton, and although I can't remember now whether we were in with mainly Villa fans or their lot but I do still remember the Villa fans around by us chanting "Hateley is a Reject".

On the subject of football kits though, if any of you do have a fascination with old kits (all clubs not just ours) then try and get hold of John Devlin's brilliant "True Colours" books. Book 1 covers Premier Lge teams as of 2006 and features all Villa kits from 1975-2006, and Book 2 is clubs from the lower leagues. His website is superb too...

I am compiling a major book about fans memories of all things Villa. I hope to include celebs and current and ex-players, as well as us the fans.

Would anyone mind if I use their postings in the book? If you have any more good stories please contact me at simongoodyear@soccerbiographies.com

The Hummel away shirt.......5 across and 3 down........or 3 down and 5 across either way! My first shirt and I adored it and still my fave!

Absofuckinlutely!!!  That and the away shirt before that, also by Hummel.  It was the sky blue and white striped one that looked similar (but better) to Coventry's at the time.  The home one that season looked like Southampton's from that year.

I went to the Villa shop today and got my retro jersey from 1982-83, I already have the white one so I now have the home one too... how happy I am, some nice bargains at the shop!

This photo 100% proves a point I have said on here for years, but only now can I show it ##Villa should NEVER EVER EVER wear yellow - Yellow = Small Heath

Just have a look

1970-1974 - oh look we were relegated to Div 3
1985 - 1987 - oh look we were relegated to Div 2
1991 - 1993 - although slightly misleading, only ever wore ONCE and we got dumped out the cup by Liverpool and swore we'd never wear it again
2003 - 2004 - nearly relegated and stayed up on the penultamate weekend if I rfemember right
2005-2005 - nearly relegated under O'Leary - and would have done the next season.

And there your honour is the evidence for the prosecution !

White is Villa away and nowt else !
