I heard zero boos when he was taken off, nothing but applause.

Mixed reception pre-game but nothing extreme, probably just the right amount to be honest!

Milner showed his true character today. Class act. Thinking back over the years to players with one foot out the door for us, and final games, or final seasons, I don't ever remember a barnstorming display from them like Milner delivered today. I don't believe he's the mercenary some may think at all. He certainly lived up to his reputation as being an honest player who'll give absolutely everything when he's on the pitch for whoever.

I will be sad to see him go. I still hope he ends up staying to be honest. Ireland is a cracking player, but Milners got a little something extra we'll undoubtedly miss.

Today he showed what we will be missing. Amazingly I thought he looked worth the incredible fee today. As i said elsewhere, I felt nothing but sadness seeing him walk off, something I never felt with Barry or Southgate.

I applauded him off as a 'Thank you for the past 2 years' gesture to be honest.

How good would it be though if we pip City to a Champions League place by one goal, a goal they could have avoided by paying Ireland off last week.

Sad thing is we will miss him. That was him today after only playing 22 minutes of pre-season games. (Yes I know World Cup but that was June/July)

A credit to his profession today - gave 110% - unfortunately some of our moronic fans lived upto our fickle reputation and booed him before kick off, I will be very sad to see him go - and no Ireland is not, in my opinion, an adequate replacement. Good luck James - I think you are making a mistake but I wish you well.

Milner has put his heart and soul playing for the club beyond a lot of other players. If Heskey, Davies and Petrov had showed his application throughout their time with us maybe we would have sneaked fourth.
Petrov was superb once again today.

Anyone who doesn't see that Petrov is one of our most important players really doesn't understand football.

Petrov was quality today, showed more dimensions to his game aswell. Plus he maintained energy because we kept the ball better.

Petrov did play well today, because he realises he has to again.

He has under performed in a lazy cynical fashion for most of his time with us, apart from when he he was playing for a new contract ( surprise, surprise). That I understand all too well. You're entitled to your opinion, how easily some are seduced.

I think that's bang on. I remember last season him really slowing the pace down, often breaking up our attacks. One incident stood out for me today where he quickly released the ball to Young, leading to a fabulous break. I think he's realised that we can't afford a passenger in midfield, and someone needs to step up when/if/but surely when Milner leaves.

I think the reception James received today might make him think twice about the move - what I fear is his agent will have mentally spent the massive fee he will get from the deal and not let it collapse now.

played superbly given the circumstances. If we hadn't wasted millions that we now need to claw back, we could have built a team round him. Wish him well.
