For those who have posted last season that they wanted MON out - who on the rumoured shortlist of possible candidiates do you see as better than him?

Sven & Houllier

Yes those two have both won more than O'Neill has.  And let's not forget that the vindictive timing of O'Neill's  walkout has contributed to the relative paucity of the list of managers being considered.

If Houllier is appointed i hope I am completely wrong, maybe he will modernize our scouting structure and bring some new ideas, but I can't see it.

Since he left Liverpool he managed Lyon for 2 years, retained their title both times, but left because they weren't happy that he hadn't improved them from Le Guen's time.

He hasn't even been mentioned for any other PL job in years. He signed Milan Baros twice ffs! Got rid of Carew and Friedel in his days.

I will get behind him of course if he is appointed, but I'll be extremely underwhelmed!

You are right Houllier is rubbish. I would hate to have a manager that retained the League title twice....

Who would you rather? The trophyless Moyes? Martin Jol? .....

For managers like GH and Sven winning becomes a habit and it is a nice one to have.

Alot of managers have got rid of Carew over the years and Friedel was awful at Liverpool. Who cares if he has not been linked to other Prem jobs that didn't hurt Wenger. If Randy thinks he is the right man, then I trust him.

No Sven in particular would come for the money and would be off within a year or two. What we want is stability.

What if he was here for a year or or two and won the FA Cup? Would you prefer someone like Moyes to come in and manage for 8 years and win nothing?

I would imgaine that would have been a strong negative against Sven. He would have been more exciting, but what kind of stability would we expect? If a bigger job (club or international) comes along chances are he's off. You have to believe he has one eye on Brazil 2014 already for his next serious appointment.

I can't actually believe I'm having to debate that Houllier is not the right man. I thought there would be universal uproar at this.

I think the uncomfortable truth may be that he's the best we can do right now; and we have to psychologically adapt and accept that and try to look for the positives.

When threatened with Curbishley, Houllier suddenly looks a whole lot better.

I have no idea what Curbishley brings to the table other than an inability to pronounce words correctly. If we can get FIFA to allow us points for that, then let's get him in. Houllier is a far better option.

Houllier would be fine as far as I'm concerned. Someone who would encourage us to play to feet, be more tactically aware and make better use the talented players we have - not to mention that he would significantly widen our scouting network.

I don't see anything that's not to like - it's an opportunity for the club to broaden its horizons from the English based strategy that has probably taken us as far as it can.

Yes he must know some decent young French prospects, maybe even others like Algerians too, who wouldn't cost a fortune either in transfers or wages, unlike the bulk of MON's signings. Hopefully improve some of the ones we've got as well.

Exactly the point.

Had he left at the start of the summer, the list would have looked a bit different. Leaving when he did limited our options.

we are talking as if its definitely going to be Houllier on here at the moment,
has there been any more evidence of his appointment or is he just the latest favourite
