To all those calling for Jol. Forget it right now. He is not going to walk out on Ajax just before their 2nd match of the season and with a point still to prove after a disappointing campaign last year.

I was no huge MON fan, but the timing is frankly shocking and if there is only one way the club can go from here and that's back to the mediocrity from a few seasons ago. If the rumours of money restrictions are true, then how are we going to attract anyone to take us forward. Whatever way you spin it, the news is just frankly depressing.

If you believe MON was on a sell to buy policy, then it doesn't compare to Jol. Ajax are well skint and it's what nearly forced Jol to join Fulham. I think if Jol was approached and Ajax compensated, he'd be here in a shot.

This is the best job in England that Jol could hope for. I think he'd be here in a heartbeat, given the chance.

Who would we have to sell to pay the compensation?

We could give them "England legend, Emile Heskey" in exchange.

But now Heskey's not an international 'legend' he'll only be worth his true value...

Whatever happens from here on in, I think it says a lot about MON that he is quite prepared to walk and therefore drop the club in the shit 5 days before the start of the season. Gone down in my estimation as a man

Why? He is Dutch, managing one of the great Dutch teams, in front of 50,000 fans in a magnificent stadium and has a realsitic chance of being able to bring the title back after a seven year wait at aclub which rarely finishes out of the top three. How is it better here, just now?

I would like Moyes in, he has transformed the Everton team having little money to spend and they play attractive football.
Then again MON hasn't got a club and is looking for a team to manage!!!

He wanted to leave them for Fulham a couple of weeks ago.

Not read through all of this but the people who voted for DOL please go outside and run under a bus - dear oh dear oh dear

Agree with the comments that i would imagine unless MON has something already lined up then i feel he is now finished in the game - totally petulant and selfish act of childishness against the club that gave him a chance back in the game

AS a manager i think he is decent - not great but very decent. As a man i now think he is a total wanker

What an awful choice of managers chosen through what people see of other managers through the media and just watching from afar. A list has been created on what the media has informed you. The same media constantly tells you that MON is a great manager and has done brilliant at Villa. Why listen to them one minute and not the next?
Ask fans about every one of those managers who have managed a club before and I bet you they're more "as one" in the welcoming of wanting to get rid of them. The only exception would be Moyes, but they're only as split about wanting him or not as people were on here about MON.

Fact. No matter who the next manager is without a lot of money to spend we will not get into the top four, thats what the premiership has come to, those with the most money win. You only have to look at how quickly Liverpool dropped when the money ran out to get the message.

yeah but your question was 'why' and otl has replied saying if he even considered leaving for Fulham, he probably wasnt/isnt as happy there as you suggest,

it was a good point, and one which raises questions about whether it would be worth an approach
