I've been trying to think who Houllier reminds me of, I reckon he looks like Small out of 'Big and Small.'

I love Big and Small. My kids have grown out of it but I still force them to watch it with me.

Welcome Mr. H.

Houllier's knowledge and experience will be invaluable; I welcome the appointment because his track record is impressive.

Welcome Mr. H.

Has he definitely definitely signed yet?

I'll believe it when I see a photo of him on the pitch, arms outstretched as if holding the North Stand in the background.

Three year deal I believe. Pictures will probably be out soon with a press conference I imagine some point today.

He's taking over at a relatively good time given the circumstances. The first 4 games are all very winnable giving him the opportunity to calm the doubters.

A win at Stoke and the league is ours.

My ideal coaching set up under him would be K-Mac as a coach (his strength and gets on with the players) and a firey assistant (the shouter who plays bad cop when it's needed).  That would make up for where I would percieve Houllier is not strongest.
Agree John. Neither Houllier or Kevin MacDonald are big shouters during games. I'm not saying we need another monkey on speed but there does need to be some communication coming from the bench.

Brian Blessed?

Latest reliable sources say Gerard's meeting with French Football Federation president Fernando Duchaussoy took place last night rather than topday as planned. Unconfirmed sources say Gerard's been spotted at Birmingham airport.

I think you'll find he's at Bodymoor Heath or Villa Park as we speak.

Dietmar Hamman involved? Says our 'Villa Insider' friend.

Hamman plays for the MK Dons at the moment
