How many times do refs feel they have to even up a sending off with another? The guy was a joke not booking a Liv player for handball then booking the Arse guy for what looked a reflex reaction. I loved Merse and Jamie Redknapp after though "there was 30 secs to go the ref should have shown some common sense". Do this mean the refs should ignore the rules late on in the game?

Definite red for Cole - a horrible two footed lunge. Inexcusable.

Having watched in back on MOTD2 I actually can't believe that Gerrard didn't get sent off.  The yellow he did get was clear as day and no ref in the world could've justified not giving it but the one on eboue in the first half would've seen a yellow 99 times out of 100 as well, I guess Gerrard is allowed a free one at anfield though.

I thought that exactly. I had the feeling he was going to score from that free kick that Almunia parried as well because it'd be his kind of luck. How many more reds for the home side are allowed at Anfield this season? I think the upper limit is three, isn't it?

Reasonable start to the manc against the barcodes.  Caroll should have put the geordies 1 up free header from a corner

As much as I dislike saying this........ C'mon Man Utd !!

I hate Newcastle with a passion. I don't know why but they're the one club that I love seeing get stuffed (even more so than SHA)

apparently it's a good time for Newcastle to play us, obviously the commentator didn't see us at the weekend.

I want Newcastle to get stuffed by 10 and have any early season confidence knocked out of them before Sunday.

Did anyone else see Carroll gobbing off at the lino there? Isn''t that supposed to be a straight red?

Listening to this on Radio 5, Robbie Savage seems less than impressed with Newcastle. He's even tipped them for relegation. If all his other predictions are proved to be way out, it'll be worth it if this one is totally accurate.

Paul Scholes will not have a better game all season than tonight. He has been world class, like watching him 10 years ago.

Routledge manages to sum up in a single 90 minute performance why he wasn't good enough for us, or the premier league come to that. (watch him score a wonder goal in the last minute now)
