The sickest part of the whole thing imo is the fact that Scott Parker is earning 68k a week. 68,000 pounds a week for a no-more than decent premiership midfielder for fuck sake. Sorry, I know that's not what the thread is about but it's beyond ridiculous

Well, perfect for a scenario where we sign him; he plays well the first three months; is distinctly average the following three months; is subsequently frozen out of the first team but still picks up £70-80k for the remainder of his contract, then.

Spurs to offer Bentley, Jenas and Keane in swap deal for Villa star Young

Yes please! What a fantastic deal for Villa if this is even 10% true.

Had the misfortune to listen to talksport this morning about this. According to Brazil and some journo from down sarf with Villa pushing for 10th/ 8th spot (as usual apparently) and spuds now at a different level (6 points better I believe) this would be a good deal for us.

Back to Radio 2 after that, I was only chasing sports headlines.

Are you joking? One decent though old forward, one talented but flakey winger and one distinctly average midfielder for our very best player? Doesn't sound like good business to me. Besides, it's a fictional rumour from last year which has been recycled to fill space this year.

3 players for 1 that was going to basically be let go? Yes, a definite good deal. Especially when Keane scored 23 goals in 50 appearances for Spurs/Celtic. Would probably be the main scoring threat on the team lol. But old rumor as you said...

Wrong Young. Ashley, not Luke.

Brilliant (smiley thing). I'd think it was a great deal for Luke as well.

Young has been poor for the last 18 months, never got a sniff of getting in the England team either. The guy has been found out, just get defenders to double up on him and the game is over for Ash.

I like the way Redknapp says he's done nothing wrong in putting in a bid for Parker, then admits he wants Craig Bellamy.

Spurs, West Ham and Man City. What a horrible little triangle that it.

The fawning over 'Arry in the latest Sky Sports mag is sickening.

The photos used are cringe-worthy in the extreme

He's onto something here (BBC):

Quote
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has lambasted the timing of England's forthcoming friendly against Hungary.

The national side's first game after a disappointing World Cup campaign is on 11 August at Wembley, three days before the start of the Premier League season.

And Redknapp fumed: "Can someone tell me why you have an international game the same week the season is starting?

"They've just been away together to the World Cup. They're probably sick of the sight of each other."

Redknapp also criticised his own club for organising a pre-season schedule that he feels could be detrimental to their chances of qualifying for the Champions League group stages.

Tottenham played three games in eight days on a tour of the United States before returning to take on Villarreal at White Hart Lane on Thursday - a game they lost 4-1.

A trip to Portugal to play Benfica and a home game against Fiorentina follow.

"It's been busy schlepping around the place," said Redknapp. "We've just come back from a gruelling trip around America.

"It's crazy. And we pile more games in. The last thing we need is to be playing games.

"We need to train. I need to get the players on the training pitch because all we do is play and recover. We should be working in training.

"Too many games have been scheduled. I don't know whose fault that is. We play too many games.

"We play Fiorentina on the Saturday [7 August], which is a nuisance, then they go off and play for their countries," he added.

"They're going to have an international week before the first week of the season, before we play Manchester City and then a European qualifier.

"I won't see them from Saturday night until Friday before we play Man City [on 14 August], not once.

"Why? What's the point of it? A meaningless friendly. The week before the season, when we should be training, working, getting organised for the first game, they won't be here.

"How can that be a way to prepare for the start of the season? Then you've got your fingers crossed that not too many come back injured."

But surely this is where quality coaching comes into play.
Ash Young getting double teamed means there's an extra player free somewhere. Off-the ball movement should dictate that this player is free to recieve the ball and make a menace of himself. The trouble is that Young gets the ball and the only people moving are the strikers in the box. Well, one of them anyway. Gabby tends to just lollop about.

Yes quality coaching, another manager might be able to sort this issue out and make it work to our advantage. Instead we just have Ash getting robbed of the ball all the time and falling over.

Seriously?  I'd say they players should have the nouce to know how and when to move off the ball.  If the players are waiting for the command of the manager to move into space then no wonder MON does not have time to sign any players.

Only 5 players had more assists in the PL than Ashley last season.

I think it is peoples expectations clouding their view on actual achievements.

Some people seem happier to pick fault with players weaknesses rather than praise their strengths.

Not saying that we shouldn't criticise but the extent should be relative.

Imagine how many more assists he'd have if he didn't try to beat the defender for the fourth time in a row and put a ball in earlier? Millionz.

Take your point but how many players did we have in the box after he had beaten the player the first time.
